Broccolino is a cute little Italian restaurant in the Centro section of the beautiful city of Buenos Aires. There is a deep feeling of family here, meaning as you sit there and watch the servers work, it becomes obvious that they have worked together for a while and help each other. They work as a unit and there is a feeling that this is not just a job for them. There is pride in their work. My first visit I was lucky enough to have a server that spoke wonderful English. He was so helpful with suggestions and conversation. I was in a simple mood, so I ordered spaghetti with Bolognese sauce. It was simple but delicious. The second time I visited, I had chicken parmesan. They served me a huge portion, which I had to take half home for later but that meant I could enjoy this meal two times! Their house red wine was actually very nice, for a lower cost wine. They offered me limoncello at the end of my meal - a nice touch that is very customary in Italy after a meal. I can easily give this restaurant 5 stars and I look forward to returning again soon.

We went last Friday to Broccolino for dinner, a friend from work recommended it to my boyfriend, and I was craving for a good pasta and lasagna. Since it was near from where we were, we went for it! We ordered as an entree Calamaretti Broccolino (second picture), we were amazed by the taste, it is one of their most famous dishes, it is delectable. My boyfriend ordered tagliatelle al Nero do sepia (first picture), and I ordered a lasagna (last picture). All the food were extremely delicious. The most expensive dish was the calamaretti Broccolino around AR$900, the other dishes were around AR$650. It was a lot of food, I couldn’t finish the lasagna so we took it home. Their service is great as well, they were really kind, we went there with a huge box and they kept it save so we could enjoy our meal. They accept debit and credit card, even dollars as payment. It is located in Microcentro.

We struggled to get a reservation here. You would expect it to be impeccable. It’s disappointing for lindos’ best restaurant. Service is awful, we did not receive a drinks menu dispute asking for one. One of our table of 5 did not receive their starter for 10 mins after the rest of us had eaten. We reminded them twice as well. It was difficult to order a drink. The bruschetta was amazing. The rest of the food does not compare. Unseasoned pasta. Some horrible what I can only assume is aubergine on the side of pork belly. We also watched a waiter change a baby in front of us, which made the dining experience unpleasant and unhygienic. There is only one toilet which has lovely painting on the wall but smells rancid. We had to ask for the bill a few times too. Very slow service. Our bill came to about €53 each which isn’t the worst but the quality was defiantly not worth it.

As an Italian and foodlover I cannot believe this restaurant has got so many good reviews. Since the moment we got in, it was a huge disappointment.

  1. I don’t mind paying for a good meal, but here prices are ridiculously high for what you get: a poor quality pasta which cost on average between 380-450 pesos and is really FAR from a real Italian pasta. I have eaten better in the restaurant around the corner from home offerig pasta dishes at 190 pesos. We took a selection of pasta for 900 pesos (tomatoes, Carbonara, Pesto and Bolognese). The Bolognese and the Pesto pasta were ok. I must say the bolognese sauce was actually good. The tomatoes pasta unfortunately was cooked with a kind of olive oil which has got a very strong taste, quite far from the Italian extra virgin or classic olive oil. It may be my personal taste here but I believe that a supposed Italian restaurant of this level should be using an high quality olive oil according to the Mediterranean cuisine and taste: more delicate in taste and getting in harmony with the rest of the flavours instead of covering them. The Carbonara - how do you dare calling it like that? - was a simple pasta with big pieces of ham and a bit of watery cream. No signs of eggs or pancetta. I didn’t like it.
  2. the customer service is very poor. Except from one waiter who hinted a smile on one occasion, the rest - and mainly the waiter who was taking our order - was uncaring and nearly didn’t look at our eyes while taking the order.
  3. we asked to get the remaining pasta in a doggy bag to carry it home. At that point it was 3 types of pasta left. The waiter came back with a plastic container where the whole lot of pasta had been mixed together (literally one over the other, not even side by side!). We all know that pasta has got very different flavours and ingredients! I couldn’t believe they just mixed them all together without pity. How can you trust a restaurant which doesn’t show any respect or care for their clients and above all their own food...

It's my first time giving 1 star but seriously I cannot believe this restaurant has such a good mark on google maps. First of all, I ordered half a portion of ravioli de verduras with quattro formaggi cheese. I got an awful cheese soup with super soft, collapsing, testless spinach ravioli. I love cheese, I've been in Italy many many times and trust me, it has nothing to do with italian cuisine. In fact, it has nothing to do with any cuisne. Cheese was mostly cheddar with a whole lot of flour and milk (pretty sure there were never even 4 different kinds of cheese in that kitchen at all as what was supposed to be parmesan being thrown at my table by waitress was the cheapest soft cheese). Not even starting about raviolis (worst in my life; I could've gone to Carrefour and bought a package of those, prepare myself and would be hundred times better, not mentioning the price). "The cherry on top" was the stuff. Firstly, the waitress almost throw a plate at me insted of putting it gently on a table, like normal humans do. While asking about wifi she mumbled something really faste while turning around (not sure if that was the answer, password, curse or what). The best was that there were only 3 tables occupied and 2 waitresses. I had to ask for my check twice after staring and them, raising my hand ect. for 30 minutes and now one was eager go come and ask what's going on. I think I don't have to add how rude and annoyed they seem... Worst eating experiences during my month in Argentina as well as most overpriced restaurant I've been in my...

Everything was perfect! From the large, varied menu, the pricing, the ambiance, the treatment. It was just a perfect last night in BA. I’m so glad we came!

Everyone at my table found a main dish they were really enthusiastic to order. They have a gluten free option in pasta (ask for GF rigatoni). Most dishes are meat or veggie-based. They had salmon, shrimp, seafood options for pescatarians. I ordered the rigatoni seafood dish. They have mushroom risotto, veggie pastas and salads for vegetarians. We shared a bottle of good wine at a decent price. Our meals came out all at the same time, perfect and hot. The flavors were there; upon request they bring you parmesan (or something similar) and olive oil.

Their tiramisu is made with mascarpone and you can truly taste the mascarpone. OH! But the mascarpone ice cream is pribably home-made because you can feel it in the texture. It has that distinct texture of frozen milk. It comes with fresh, locally-sourced berries. OMG. I could return just for that. It is a true delight.

Even though the place was almost packed the owner seated a table of 5 immediately. From the outside the iron bars on the doors make you think twice, the interior is ample and yet cozy at the same time. It’s well-loved because there was hardly a seat available yet it wasn’t a loud environment. Discreet, quality, without feelig uppity.

The owner was present and very pleasant with us. Thank you for a wonderful night! It’s rare that I can be this enthusiastic about a review but I would return in...
