Wow! Just plain terrible food.... Truly deserves ZERO stars as I am not creative enough to conceive of any circumstance that could compel me to return. I can't imagine what may have happened since some of these positive reviews were written, but the food was a joke. Oh, and not cheap. After strolling around San Telmo, my wife, our two friends, and I were famished a very much so looking forward to a good meal. I used the Google Maps "search nearby" feature to select this restaurant. Upon entry, the manager or owner (?) attempted to steer us to the tango cafe across the street by the same name. We assured him that our motivation was dinner and not a show. The place sure looks upscale and so we all thought, this must be the better dining choice between the two. Appetizers were mediocre to tolerable, but the main courses - pew! The worst was one of their "wok" dishes, ordered by our female friend. It came without rice. This surprised the waitress so she went to get some. A bad sign when the kitchen doesn't know the dish. But the taste...enough SALT to kill a horse! Seriously inedible. I could barely choke down a taste! I would have readily bet the owner that wouldn't eat his own food. And the ingredients... eggplant(?) so tough as to be best described as softened wood !! I am 100% in earnest about this. Our only recourse was to send it back. Her husband ordered the fish of the day, the odor of which was making me queasy from across the table. (I suspect, as a testament to our hunger and his civility, he ate it without complaint.) On the waitresses emphatic recommendation, I ordered the ravioli. Better described as Chef-Boyardee in quality. Mushy in the extreme, bland, and appearing suspiciously completely uniform in shape and size. Covered in sauce that one might forgivably mistake for tomato soup, with sliced green olives and a small dollop stringy spinach (?) as garnish! Sorry, hog slop! Though we walked in a bit early on a Thursday night (approx 8pm) we did remain the only patrons in the restaurant. The manager/owner(?) showed not the slightest interest in the buzz/drama regarding his only customers despite our waitress' concern and frustration. I suppose that...
Read moreI wound up purchasing THE SHOW only ticket directly via the website as it appeared to be cheaper that way versus doing it thru Viator etc. It was $80.00 and that included transportation. The coordination was great and the driver came on time. What disappointed me was that my table was right behind a large pillar so my view was obstructed the whole time. I read other reviews about this same issue and of course it happened to me. For $80, this shouldn't be the case. I also noticed that everyone around me was immediately asked if they wanted food or something to drink when they got there and my waiter didn't ask me till after sitting there for about 20min. So this is the reason for the low rating on service, also my waiter made it a point to tell me that the tip wasn't included which I thought was Tacky...seeing as I just ordered FREE water. Most folks tip when being waited on so this didn't need to be said. The show was OK...this was my first Tango show but I didn't see anything that just blew me away. Overall, I feel like the price was very expensive for the experience. Had i not been struggling to see the whole time, I would rate this differently but that wasn't the case so, nope...poor...
