My husband and I arrived at 8:38 PM, and a young man greeted us with a slightly worried expression. Instead of showing us a table, he told me the restaurant would close at 9:30 PM and that I'd better choose something to take out. I didn't quite understand his concern, as there were still 52 minutes until 9:30 PM. My husband, already realizing they didn't want us there, suggested we leave, but since I really wanted to eat there, I told the man we'd eat quickly, before the restaurant closed. We sat at a table for two, among many available, and rushed to choose our dishes. I didn't even get to look at the entire menu, wanting to save time. We just chose quickly, placed an order (around USD 50), and ate super quickly, so much so that by 9:15 PM we had already devoured our food. I was surprised to see the restaurant filling up more and more, and everyone who arrived was greeted with a smile and shown straight to a table. I just asked someone else, "What time do you close?" He said, "Around 11 PM." I was a little startled by this situation. Is the reason because I'm Brazilian ? Or because they thought I was Chinese , who are known to suffer discrimination in this country? I've been traveling the world for years, and this is the first time I've left a restaurant truly sad. Where I come from, this is called discrimination and is a crime, but they don't seem to care. There's no justification, I just hope...
Read moreThis is probably my first review in years. As I cannot comprehend how this place is rated so highly. Do not order any sushi or raw fish of any kind here. It is not sushi grade fish and tastes like fish gone bad. The white fish and what I suppose was snapper was abhorrent, whereas I had to spit it into my napkin and do whatever I could to prevent myself from vomiting at the table. After such an experience, I proceeded to smell the fish and it was 100% not fresh, and sushi should never smell this bad. Also, the tuna roll uses canned tuna! I have never seen such a thing before… On the other hand, the cooked food was good although not authentic Japanese. The Yakisoba noodles were essentially Chinese stir-fry, tasty but not Japanese. Sadly, this was the worst “Japanese”...
Read moreWe ordered the tonkotsu ramen and the kare udon ramen and they were both awful. It is the worst ramen I have ever had. The broth was missing the creaminess that tonkotsu is famous for, and it tasted like it was just made with a stock cube. The kare udon broth was really thick like it had been made using an instant powder kit. The noodles were all stuck together in the bottom of the bowl as well.
The best part of the meal was the “free” sushi entree that they give you. I say free as we actually got charged a small fee for it, the chopsticks and the plates on the bill. I have never had this at a restaurant before.
It’s a shame as I was looking forward to trying this restaurant but after trying it, I would not recommend it to anyone. It’s also quite expensive for...
