The food is a solid 4/5 (very good, but not outstanding or special), but it gets an extra star for the huge portions it comes in and the excellent quality to price ratio. The ambience is very homey, with a big room with simple decor, but you do get a real cloth tablecloth and napkins, which is always nice. Service is very attentive. Mr. Raoul was particularly helpful in explaining all items on the menu we had questions about and provide us with valuable suggestions, while always very professional, he was also upbeat, smiling and in a very good mood, which contributed to a most pleasant dinner. The house speciality is clearly meat and there is a lovely barbecue right behind the counter that tempts you with its delicious aromas, but we craved for pasta and were very pleased both with the potato gnocchi and the spaghetti, which are surprisingly hard to find in Buenos Aires (every restaurant offers "fideos": fresh pasta, while spaghetty are dried pasta). Both the pesto and the "Gran Caruso" sauces were also really good and in the right amount (generous, but pasta was not "swimming in a lake of sauce, as sometimes happens). The house wine by the glass (and a very full glass that is!) is also a very nice Malbec, for a very, very honest price (less than 2 USD equivalent). Overall: definitely recommended and we'll likely be back to...
Read moreWow! We don't eat at nice restaurants but there was a take away promotion for a full rotisserie chicken with potatoes. It was 13000 ARS, my debit card posted as 11.36 USD
They took our order, very politely, charged my card and said it would be 15 minutes. So we walked around the block. I have a kiddo in tow so I wasn't going to make him sit in the restaurant though there was seating available for take-out orders.
We got back and there was a HUGE order on the counter. It was a pizza box plus another bag, I thought it couldn't possibly be ours. It was! When we got home to open it the chicken was cut up in 4 pieces and there had to be 2 lbs or more of potatoes in there! Plus the bag on top was fresh bread rolls.
The food was crazy yummy and I am still floored by how much food this was. To put this in perspective, at the JUMBO a couple blocks away they have a combo promotion where you get those tiny grocery store rotisserie chickens, a dried out baguette and a 2 liter of coke for the same price, 13000 ARS.
So glad we saw the sign and got this yummy food! They were very polite and the restaurant looks very fun. The place was packed with people - one day we will adventure to...
