Bocanada — Restaurant in El Calafate

An amazing surprise! The owner is such a sweetheart and takes pride in everything done. We arrived about 15 minutes before they opened and she still allowed us entry and began working right away on our order. Important note: she has a wrist brace and still went above and beyond with care. The sushi itself does take a little bit of time but that is because everything was freshly made to order. We watched as she made everything right behind the sushi bar, down to the grains of rice! And she brought me extra ginger each time because I love it! The sushi was amazing and reasonably priced but the service and ambiance of this treasure really made the entire experience so we returned a second time. This is a small, charming little Asian-focused restaurant run by the nicest lady. There are only a few tables and you see right into a kitchen - feels like a home. Lots of natural light.

We loved the sushi. It’s not fancy but the rice is cooked well and the fish is fresh. She allowed us to remove the cream cheese — a crime to sushi but too often popular in these parts of the world.

This place is fantastic!! We stumbled upon it on our first night in Calafate just looking for something quick to eat. We got the Pad Thai to share and a veggie roll. It was so good that we came back on our last night to visit again. The owner is as nice as can be, the sushi and noodles are both out of this world, the ambience is super cute, and the family dog is hanging out outside (a big plus for us as we are missing our perros back home).
