La Lechuza Pizza y Pastas — Restaurant in El Calafate

A mediocre experience. But let’s start with the positives. The restaurant has a nice ambiance and the portion sizes are large. Unfortunately that’s where the goods end. I dinned here tonight with my wife, actually still in the restaurant when I am writing this review (waiting for the bill). On arrival nobody greeted us so we took to ourselves to find a table for 2. We waited a bit for the waitress to acknowledge us and bring us the menus. We settled for ricotta ravioli with arrabiata sauce and spaghetti with mushrooms and cream sauce. We asked for tap water and were abruptly turned down without offer of anything in exchange. We waited a bit for the food to arrive so we were given 4 cold bread rolls with a very salty garlic and basil mayo like sauce. No it was not aioli by a large margin. When the food finally arrived , we were impressed by the looks of it. But don’t judge a book by the covers as the first bite told us that it plain overcooked pasta without any seasoning. No one , once again asked if we needed anything else. So my wife went to ask for pepper and I nicked the salt left over on the neighbour’s table. That made the dish at least eadible. Now I’m almost done writing this review and still waiting for my bill. All the attempts to attract the attention of the waiting staff failed. So overall, if you are hungry and don’t mind eating plain bog standard foods at a bit of a charge, this place is for you. I won’t be returning though. What a bad and disrespectful experience. We waited 15 minutes outside as the restaurant was full and 30 minutes after we ordered our food, we still didn't receive it. At least 3 tables and several takeaways that arrived after us have been served and finished eating, and our food still didn't arrive. When the waitress was asked why the delay she couldn't even look me in the eye. The rest of the waitresses tried to explain that others ordered easier dishes. This was not exactly the case because one table had ordered beef, same as I did. It's interesting that lasagnas, milanese veal, and other types of steak are faster to make that a steak and pizza ordered before all of the others. Disgraceful also that at no point did the waitress have the decency to come and inform about the delay, nor was she apologetic when we canceled the order after a total of 45 mins of waiting. However, the colleague who followed up at least had the decency to apologize. It is interesting how they selected us out of the entire restaurant to discriminate. We decided to go to this restaurant based on the great views it has on google.

The service in this restaurant is very very slow, and the restaurant was not even that busy. As well our waitress did not have any idea about the wine we wanted, we asked her to recommend a Malbec to us and she just smiled at us. A bit odd.

For apps we ordered the Empanadas (La Lechuza and Calabresa) and for the mains we got the Pollo Relleno. We also decided to get their pizza which was the Big Pan. The food with no doubt was phenomenal and very good. But overall rating his a 1 because the service and attitudes was not that great. I also felt when I tired to ask questions or recommendations the waitress just agreed and walked away.

Lastly when I asked for my bill it took forever to get it, in fact we waited 25 mins before I decided to get up and ask for my bill. When I was asking for my bill I clearly seen my waitress just talking to her colleagues and completely...
