I was a bit disappointed by the restaurant to be honest, specially considering the blazing reviews. I didn’t have the tasting menu and maybe that’s where I went wrong, but I feel that as a restaurant if you offer an a la carte menu the same work and consideration should go into both the tasting and a la carte.
The steaks came with very simple and basic sides, which I feel could do with some work or elaboration. We ordered a starter and a main (sweetbreads and tomahawk), only to be told they didn’t have either. They recommended skirt steak (entrana) which was tasty, however it was not cooked rare (as we’d asked, and it was served on a hot plate), and the sides were quite sad: a rúcula and shaved Parmesan salad with no dressing (we dressed it ourselves), and some simple paprika roasted potatoes. I used some of the garlic sauce they’d offered with bread before the mains to spice both sides up and it worked well - it wouldn’t be hard for them to do the same.
They also didn’t have the 3 bottles of wine we’d first opted for, which was, once again, a little disappointing.
The waitress was sweet and apologetic, and, being a chef myself, I understand that sometimes things do run out and we could’ve just gotten unlucky with our choices. Still, reading in the comments that it was original and creative I was disappointed by the incredibly basic starter choice (grilled provoleta, empanadas, gyozas…) and sad sides on the steaks.
The waitress also gave us a dessert on the house which was lovely of her, and it was a good twist of tiramisu but with marzipan. I left the recommended tip for the service and attention, but, again, was disappointed by the...
Read moreLovely restaurant, fabulous service, really tasty food. We arrived around 21:00 and were lucky they had a free table. Our understanding is that normally people book in advance as it fills up fast. The restaurant is very pretty, has a patio area and feels inviting. The waiters are super friendly, Samuel was so lovely throughout, understood the pace we wanted to dine at, did not place any pressure for us to order quickly, arrived promptly with our request and friendly and professional. They have a sommelier on site, Cristian, who will guide you if you would like recommendations or explain the wine you choose. I also saw they have wine pairings with your dinner if you'd like to go for that route, which looked great. Not our choice that night as we had already wandered round a few bodegas, but something we would consider another time. We chose the rabbit ravioli and beef ravioli and a tomato salad. The ravioli are homemade and the taste was superb. The quantity was enough, and it was served hot and well presented. The dessert, pistachio tiramisu was also fantastic. Loved this restaurant, really enjoyed the food, and the service made a huge positive impact on our dinner. Thank you...
Read moreI was so excited to try this restaurant but unfortunately I feel there is much room for improvement. It is a lovely place and everyone was very nice and attentive, but the food and wine fell short. For a bottle of wine to be below expectations in Argentina was very disappointing. When discussing options with the sommelier, my husband stated that he did not want a fruity wine but that is what we were given. It was a wine of a higher price so that was extra disappointing because we can easily get better wines for less money anywhere in Mendoza. My husband is fluent in Spanish and native to Argentina so there was not a language barrier.
The seafood tortellini was good but nothing out of the ordinary. Our other dish was the pamplona which was very, very dry. We were most excited to try this one because we don’t commonly see it on menus here but it was not moist and we didn’t finish it. On the positive side of that, the potato purée and other grilled vegetables served with it were good so we ate that instead.
Overall we were hoping for better, so I wish to see that this restaurant improves before we return again to Mendoza. I would like to give it...
