Restaurante Macacha — Restaurant in Municipio de Cafayate

Delightfully quirky restaurant (when it comes to the interior decoration) but with a very classic menu (some hits, some misses) and very reasonable prices (especially considering how close it is to the most touristy part of town). Positives are the ambience, the kind service and some of the dishes (the trout was excellent both in size and in the way it was cooked) and the very honest prices. Negatives are other dishes (the steak au Torrontes was smallish and had no hint of Torrontes whatsoever), few wine by the cup options and a rather slow service. I wouldn't mind going back (especially now that I know better what to order and what not to), but probably would not be my first...

There are much better places in Cafayate. Bad food and service! I’ve ordered the bife de chorizo (steak) and it was so dry! I even ordered medium rare, but it was so overcooked and dry. It looked like old meat. On top of that I ordered a Fanta, I took a sip and the taste was weird. It was 9 months out of date. I asked for a new one and then the rude waiter said that it was not possible because I had taken a sip of it. How else would I know what it tastes like? Then the waiter immediately went on the attack and said if I don't pay for the Fanta he will call the police. For a Fanta, what a joke. Really bad service!! and you shouldn't go here for...

La peor experiencia en 20 años de visitar Cafayate. La ensalada con gusanos, un locro frío que después de haber pedido que lo calienten volvió aguado y a la mitad de la medida original. Luego de 30 minutos de esperar el locro "original" nos trajeron una especie de guiso de trigo lejos de lo que se podría parecer a un locro salteño verdadero. Pedimos hablar con el dueño, y luego de 45 minutos el señor se acercó diciendo que estaba muy ocupado, aún después de haberle mostrado el gusano todavía vivo...la respuesta de este "señor" fue: - nadie se murió por comer un gusano", a la señorita a quien reclamo sobre el "locro" y el gusano, la trató de histérica, como si la equivocada hubiese sido la clienta por reclamar algo lógico. Siento que al ser un grupo de mujeres no solo tuvimos que soportar la falta de respeto de este señor además de pésima atención...nunca una disculpa, ni mucho menos el respeto merecido a un reclamo lógico. La ensalada con gusanos fue cobrada a la mitad... Como visitantes y consumidores se entiende un espacio de "error" gastronómico, pero la falta de respeto y consideración fue mucho peor que la falencia culinaria.

Worst place to eat. Bad service. Worms in salad, which was still charged. Locro looked more like a soup. The "manager" came to the table 45 minutes later and got upset about us complaining about it. He said -nobody had died for eating a worms etc etc.... Would not recommend this place to my...
