Friends — Restaurant in Municipio de San Carlos de Bariloche

We ate here three times - it opens early and was close to our Airbnb. The first time, the server was a bit aloof, but it was a busy day and full of tourists. The second time, the server wouldn't even make eye contact - literally looked out the window (away from the table) as they put our coffees down. A bit rude, but it was 8am on a Sunday. When I went to pay, I said 'pagar' (I'm taking Spanish classes while in town, but am very much a beginner!!). The guy at the til said "english?", me: "yes, sorry", "you came to Argentina and you can't even speak Spanish?" I explained I was learning, but thought that was a bit rude. I appreciate it's frustrating that people don't speak the local language, but a. I'm genuinely learning, and b. you're a server in a tourist restaurant in a touristy town?!? I begrudgingly came a third time (because it was open). The server rolled her eyes when we ordered. Another server delivered another table's order to us - when we said it wasn't ours, he seemed to be annoyed with us! Five completely different people over three trips. So whilst it was convenient and the food was edible, the service was pretty subpar! Came here for dinner on Christmas Eve. Should have made a reservation, our bad, but take-away was possible so we went for that. There was quite a line outside and it took quite long until we got our food. I guess there was miscommunication because others got there food faster and the staff did not really know what to tell us. It was Christmas Eve chaos, so I don't blame them for the chaos or how long it took (although they gave an indication which was far from what we had). However, the quality of the food was so bad that I felt the need to leave this review. Fries felt like they forgot to fry them, which we experienced more often in Argentina south of Bariloche, but also found normal fries (how hard can it be?). The milanesa was a tasteless schnitzel and the salad we had was also not award-winning. So, I am sorry, but I would definitely not recommend...

I’ve been to Friend Restaurant many times, and overall, it’s a fantastic place. The food is consistently great, and the service is usually top-notch. Most of the staff are friendly, attentive, and professional, which is why I keep coming back.

However, I did have one unfortunate experience during one visit. A server named Mart was unexpectedly rude and disrespectful, which was disappointing given the restaurant’s usual standards. He was acting like he was on his period and his behavior was unprofessional and detracted from the otherwise...
