Las Barricas del Abasto — Restaurant in San Martín de los Andes

This is truly one of the best restaurants I’ve experienced in all of Argentina — no exaggeration. I had the Raviolones de ciervo en masa de cacao amargo con una crema de hongos del bosque, and it was absolutely phenomenal. I can’t recommend it highly enough. My wife went with the trout, another standout dish. My kids ordered the chorizo, and naturally, I had to sneak a bite… According to them — and I fully agree — it was the best chorizo they’ve ever had. And that’s saying a lot after two years of tasting their way through Argentina on vacations. The ambiance is delightful, thoughtfully designed and beautifully maintained. It fits the culinary experience perfectly. The wine selection? Simply outstanding. Lastly, the service was exceptional. Agustín and Valentina were just wonderful. I feel lucky that we’re only at the beginning of our season in San Martín de los Andes — which means I’ll definitely be going back to try more gems...

I'm a business owner, so I know that things can go sideways from time to time. For that reason, I don't usually leave bad reviews. However, this place deserves a negative review because of the horrible attitude of the person in charge. The food we ordered took more than 40 minutes when I asked for the check (I don't know how much longer it would have taken). Mind you that the mojito that my wife ordered took about 30 minutes before that. Her response to my complaint was that there are many more restaurants nearby. I was dumbfounded. I just told her "that's not how you respond to customers" and walked out. The waitresses were kind though.

Yes, the orders can get backed up. Yes, there can be unforseen situations. But there are no excuses for that kind of response.

We found this location and on the first view all looked good, so we went in. The service was fine in the beginning, then we didn't see them anymore. We took the trucha and the menu of the day. The meat was good, but the potatoes seem to be warmed up from the day before, really horrible taste. When the service was asking how the food was, we told them the issue, but the service person said only sorry and didn't care further. After we asked for the check, we waited for more than 20 min, but no one came. So we went to the desk to pay and had to pay the full check, no goodwill on the horrible potatoes.
