We have been here a couple of times. It is a good, cozy and nourishing place to visit both during lunch and dinner. Funnily enough, I am not the biggest fan of their pho. The noodles were not firm enough and were breaking as I was picking them up gently with my chopsticks. This means that the rice noodle prep is wrong and they are probably boiling them instead of soaking briefly. The beef is too thick and overcooked, although the meat portion itself is more than respectable. Broth is good, not ultra authentic, but pleasantly light and warming.
The soup I would highly recommend to order at JanPho is their ramen! Noodles are not Japanese ramen style, they are flat, thick and broad hand rolled, which was amazing and gave such a good texture to the dish! Overall the ramen is closer to it’s Chinese ancestor rather to the contemporary Japanese dish. All toppings were really good, chicken was juicy and not overcooked.
Spring rolls - very nice, the filling is generous and flavorful.
Summer rolls - not my top, weak greens to protein ratio, shrimps were pretty sparse.
Fried noodles - enough of non-noodle ingredients, sauce is not my favorite, pretty generic western-Chinese sweet and little bit of sticky concoction.
Korean-style carrots - my partner likes it, as per my view: too much ginger, could have introduced some gochujang.
Drinks - we have tried only beer, there is no wine. We have payed 5k per liter of local beer, the Chinese rice beer was more expensive. Not the biggest beer fan, so I don’t think the drink was worth that much, if you could get a bottle of wine in the other restaurant for the same price.
The staff have been wonderful and helpful.
Overall, a solid 4/5 as a general mark, 3/5 if we are talking about...
Read moreI recently visited JanPho, a cozy little restaurant in Yerevan, and tried their vegan pho. It was absolutely delicious! The broth was rich and flavorful, and the fresh herbs and veggies added a perfect balance of textures. The portion was generous, and the presentation was inviting. The staff were friendly and attentive, making the overall experience even better. If you're in Yerevan and looking for a great vegan option, I highly...
Read moreWhile this vegan pho was unusual compared to the ones I’ve tried in the past I loved it. Of course it won’t be as rich as meat based soups but it didn’t lack flavor and I liked that it had lots of veggies making it a healthy option. Be aware that the chili sauce has fish in it but the kimchi sauce doesn’t. The reason why I took off one star because the wait was too slow and also we waited for water for like...
