Caffe Acqua — Restaurant in Adelaide

We only go every month or so but have never had any complaints as we have always found the food to be quite good. However a recent experience was a real let down. My partner as a surprise, ordered us some dessert after our food - he ordered me a piece of vanilla slice. Unfortunately when I tried to use my fork to cut off a mouthful of slice the top biscuit layer was so hard my fork couldn't cut through it. When we spoke to the young waitress she brought me a fresh knife & fork but I still couldn't cut the top biscuit layer! I ended up managing to break a piece off the top but then found that the the bottom layer was also just as hard. It was then the waitress politely offered me a STEAK knife to cut my piece of vanilla slice! The bit of biscuit that I had managed to break off had actually tasted a bit stale and I commented wryly to the waitress that I wouldn't be eating ANY vanilla slice that I had to cut with a steak knife..... We asked if I could swap it for another type of cake. The young waitress came back and said that her Manager had said no - the biscuit layer was only hard & dry because of the "type of fridge we have" and the Manager had stated that the cake itself "couldn't be more than four days old" We didn't want to make a drama of it for the young waitress' sake - I just left the slice on the plate..... We were quite disappointed and probably won't go back there again for quite...

Pretty decent place.

Only gripe I will have is that the male who took the order was not actively listening to the order we placed and did not read our order back to us. As a result we got 2 adult sized chicken schnitzels instead of 1 adult and 1 child serve. When the waitress wanted to swap it back, we advised not to worry about it considering we already paid for the adult meal. Immediately asking for a gravy for the "kids" meal we were immediately asked to provide $3 to pay for it. Not saying I should or shouldn't but when a mistake was made that was known to that waitress, it would have been a good gesture to offer the gravy to make up for the inconvenience. We opted not to worry about this.

The food was great tasting and great value for what we did pay. Never had any other issues when we visited this establishment in the past and if the order was correct, this occasion we wouldn't have had any issues either. Only docking 1 star for that issue as the food is pretty decent tasting and we didn't have to wait too long from...

Completely the wrong order. There were seemingly no checks in place to make sure that I was the right customer; I received a different customer's food. I called the restaurant to try and sort out the situation and was told that it wasn't their fault and that they wouldn't send my order to me again until I got my refund back. With only a half hour left until the store closed, the issue obviously wasn’t going to be solved in time and now I’m going to bed hungry after working 12 hours today... The Uber driver also didn’t check to see if I was the customer, he didn’t exit his vehicle and didn’t take a photo of the food; he instead took a blurry photo of the ground. He also didn’t check at the restaurants end whether he had picked up the right order. I’ve been a loyal customer since they’ve opened their doors 13 years ago, even tipping the restaurant during this pandemic, and there’s been no consideration here tonight. After several disappointing meals in a row, I'm beginning to question whether it's worth the money to...
