Francescos Osteria — Restaurant in Adelaide

WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER!! My brother ordered a meal from their Bowden stall and was given a buzzer. When the buzzer started ringing, my brother had left so I brought the buzzer to the counter and was given a dish. I didn’t know what he ordered but presumed it was what I was given and brought it to the table to share. 10mins later two staff members came up to our table telling us we were given the incorrect meal. We explained that we didn’t know and had already started eating the meal. Despite it being THEIR mistake for giving me the wrong dish, they accused us of essentially stealing because we “ate a dish we haven’t paid for” and harassed us to pay it back. All for a $16 meal! This is completely unprofessional and unacceptable customer service. How dare they blame the customers for their mistake, and also talk to us in a rude and disrespectful manner! This completely ruined the morning for our family and left a horrible taste in our mouths. The experience was insulting and the food was average at best. I love Italian food and chose Francesco's for a family dinner when we visited Adelaide for our daughter's wedding. We walked in to a cosy, welcoming space and enjoyed our surrounds. The food was just as promised, cooked with care and attention. From the way the warm toasty bread was presented with olive oil and vinegar in perfect proportion, I knew it was going to be a good meal. This, and the attention to side dishes (fennel with broccolini, roasted beetroot with orange segments and celery leaf) are to me, always a mark of a good restaurant. We enjoyed 4 pasta dishes, (shout out re the mushroom gnocchi!), asparagus risotto, eggplant balls and polenta. All were well seasoned and had depth of flavour. Vegan dishes were seamlessly part of the menu. Dessert was also enjoyed by all with the vegan tiramisu and melty chocolate souffle (though perhaps more like a pudding to us) were particularly satisfying. We got referred to Francesco and Sarah for our wedding and they were supposed to cater our wedding at home, but then COVID hit. Two years later we got married and our plans changed. We wanted to celebrate in their Osteria on Henley Beach Road. Francesco and Sarah were more then happy to host us and helped us create a wonderful menu for our guests. The night was absolutely amazing and exactly how we discussed. Welcome drinks on arrival, a beautiful grazing table and then a sit down dinner with our 40 guests with shared food. We and our guests were very impressed with the food (including dietary requirements) and the service. All staff were very attentive and friendly and nothing was too much.
