There are a lot of Vietnamese places in Adelaide and many different bowls of phos around. Decided to give this place a shot as recommended by a friend.
I ordered the pho with rare beef and brisket. The broth is nicely clear, light and does not leave any unpleasant aftertaste. A very balanced broth perfect for warming up on a cold gloomy day.
The flat noodles are one of the best I've had yet, nicely thin and just the right consistency unlike some of the ones I've had which were thick and clumpy. Granted I am not Vietnamese and have never been to Vietnam so I do not know which thickness is more authentic, but this one suits my palate more.
My girlfriend ordered a bowl of seafood rice noodles.
The broth definitely surprised me, it somehow reminded me of the delicious fishball kuey tiao(chinese flat noodle) soup from my hometown in Penang, Malaysia. The deep fried lard bits and garlic definitely contributed. Similarly, nice light broth and not too overpowering.
The only downside (hence the 4 stars) was the rice noodles which was a bit tough and chewy for me. Personally would ask to change to the flat noodles next time for the full nostalgia effect.
Overall, very satisfied with the quality and price (around 25 for 2). Environment is definitely a plus, though I must admit I did worry from the nice interior decor that the food will be inauthentic/altered to suit a Western palate. Looks like I worried too much! Will definitely come back for another bowl as well as try the other dishes which look wonderful...
Read moreI visited this Vietnamese restaurant after hearing great recommendations, especially for their Cơm Tấm (broken rice with grilled pork), and I’m really glad I did. The meal was flavorful, comforting, and satisfying — exactly what you’d hope for in a homestyle Vietnamese spot.
The Cơm Tấm stood out the most. The pork was grilled to perfection, with a delicious smoky aroma from the charcoal that added depth to every bite. The broken rice was fluffy and complemented by pickled vegetables and fish sauce, creating a well-balanced dish. It’s simple, but done really well — definitely something I’d come back for. The portion size was generous and the price was very reasonable.
I also tried the Bánh Xèo (Vietnamese pancake), which was crispy and filled with prawns, pork, and bean sprouts. It came with fresh herbs and lettuce to wrap it up — a great textural contrast and super fresh. The dipping sauce tied everything together nicely.
The duck noodle soup had a rich, slightly sweet broth and came with tender duck pieces. The flavor was solid, though the noodles were a touch off in texture — not a big issue, just a bit softer than expected. Still, the soup was warming and comforting overall.
The vibe of the restaurant is casual and welcoming. Great for a relaxed meal with friends or family. The food comes out pretty quickly, and the staff were friendly and efficient.
Highly recommend this place if you’re after authentic Vietnamese flavors without breaking the bank. Will...
Read moreWent there for dinner on a Friday night. The place is cozy and service is good.
We ordered the spicy beef soup (bun bo hue) and Vietnamese salad with prawn, squid and jellyfish.
We were interested in ordering the soft shell crab with salted egg sauce, but felt that it may be too much and we were not sure about the sauce (salted egg sauce could be a hit and miss sometimes). Instead, we decided to order deep fried tofu in salted egg sauce so we can could at least try the sauce.
The spicy beef soup was good, although it was a little sweet and not spicy enough to my liking. The salas was great; vegetables were fresh and the dressings was refreshing. I haven't had jellyfish in a long time, so having the jellyfish in the salad was a pleasant bonus.
The deep fried tofu in salted egg sauce was delicious. The tofu was super smooth and silky, and the salted egg sauce was just like what we expected.
Will definitely return and try the soft shell crab with salted egg sauce for...
