Nhu Lan is the go-to spot for viet eats, people and culture.
The atmosphere at Nhu Lan is of food and excitement. The place is always bustling with locals grabbing a quick bite or sitting down for a hearty meal. Whether you're here for a takeaway or a dine-in experience, the efficiency of service ensures that your food is served fresh and fast.
One of the highlights of Nhu Lan is its Bánh Mì. The combination of savory grilled pork, creamy pâté, crunchy pickled vegetables, and fresh coriander creates an explosion of flavors with every bite. For spice lovers, adding fresh chili elevates the experience even further.
Another must-try dish is their Phở Đặc Biệt, a special beef noodle soup that embodies the essence of Vietnamese cuisine. The broth is simmered for hours to extract deep, rich flavors from beef bones and aromatic spices, resulting in a soup that is both comforting and nourishing. The tender slices of beef, paired with fresh herbs and rice noodles, make this dish a favorite among regulars.
Beyond their staple dishes, they offer a selection of hot box snacks, such as their famous Meatball Stick. These small, flavorful bites are perfect for a quick snack on the go. Their affordability and delicious taste make them a hit among students and workers looking for a convenient yet tasty option.
One of the best things is the pricing. Despite offering top-notch Vietnamese cuisine, their dishes remain incredibly affordable. A well-stuffed bánh mì costs around $6–$10, while a generous bowl of pho is priced between $12–$15. The value for money is undeniable, making it a go-to spot for anyone craving authentic Vietnamese flavors without breaking the bank.
Overall, Nhu Lan on Hanson Road is a must-visit for food lovers in Adelaide. With its commitment to fresh, high-quality ingredients, traditional cooking methods, and affordable prices, it is no surprise that this place has earned a stellar reputation...
Read moreBought these items for a quick snack, they were on the front counter near the register. I asked the male staff if they were sweet or savoury, but he didn't know, very little English. So he asked a lady staff near by and again, no English. All he said was "yes, this one is banana" as I asked about the long one. He didn't answer my question of what the round one was.
When I took them home and opened them, the banana one was cold, the other wasn't. The banana one was a mix of just plain white rice and some banana speared on top. $5 each. The round one turned out to be off - as in EXPIRED, it tasted awful, like off/rancid. It was partly sweet (the pastry outside) but once you ate the middle, it was really disgusting and spelled off.
Note to staff: Please ensure you have competent staff who speak English to be able to answer customers questions, especially for dietary and ingredients! And to check you are not selling contaminated or off food.
Hit and miss with this place, sometimes they have really amazing staff, customer service, food quality and sometimes they are just rubbish. I'll be staying clear of buying from them for a while, hopefully they up their level of food preparation, place signs for customers about what foods have in them as a suggestion.
The male staff charged me $15 for 2 banana things and 2 round ones. Expensive and I only ate the banana one as the round cakes were disgusting and...
Read moreNhu Lan used to do really tasty bread rolls. Was always one of my favourites. Recently they have expanded into a restaurant serving "traditional" vietnamese food. I've been here three times all with different experiences. 1st time I tried the combination rice, the eggs, rice and pickled vegetables are nice and flavourless. However the meats were not very good roast pork was a massive let down. It was very fatty and a measly two pieces. 2nd time round I took the family here and we went for the "roll your own" cold rolls. Serving size was not bad and filling. Service was a bit slow and we had to repeat ourselves to check if our drinks were still coming? 3rd time was tonight, I went in wife ordered spicy beef noodle and i ordered the Beef noodle soup Pho and drinks. Spicy beef was nice and flavourless probably there best dish, Pho was good. Biggest let down was when it came to pay, the staff didnt know the prices and overcharged me. Not happy! I couldn't be bothered to go back. Is it value for money? depends on the dishes you get and whether they charge you correctly. Would i come back?...
