As an infrequent patron of hotel bars, I mused at the stridently Ocker culture I found at the Kensi. Nothing wrong about that, but with only one bar to choose from, it struck me as a trade limiter. On my recent solo visit, with some hours to fill between appointments, I was probably hoping for a more congenial setting to wile away the hours. Given the location of the Kensi, I thought it might cater to a broader, multi-cultural, and gender diverse clientele. From the fracas at the crowded bar, I found myself in an all-male environment, possibly a mix of middle-aged tradies and middle management. With bar stools elbow to elbow around an L-shaped bar, there was no bench space from which to order a drink. And no corner tables to retreat to, other than punter's corner surrounded by screens. Like many Adelaide hotels, the floorplan of the Kensi, with generous space for machines, leaves little room for a variety of bars that might cater for a broader range of patrons. Arriving at 4, and planning to stay until 7, I was dismayed to find the dining room closed until 6. The food I ordered was well done, the waiting staff friendly, the wine list excellent. But meals, to my mind, were overpriced, which may account for a predominance of empty tables. All this confirming what I recollect from my last visit (6 years ago), of a dining room of dignity and class, but not a place to bring the kids. Semi-opulent, competently modernised long ago, but lacking the stylish edge of excitement I look for in a welcoming, contemporary venue. On the strength of my visit, not a place I would choose to return to unless, as on this occasion, I have limited...

Under staffed and slow service, first meals we had there months ago were lovely.Tonight we had the Garfish which was actually frozen not fresh and tasted like cardboard . The Scotch Fillet was so tough and grissley it was unable to be chewed We informed the staff and the response was that the butchers sometimes supply poor quality meat nothing they can do about that - I did mention that paying $39 for a steak that was u able to be eaten was not good and $35 for frozen fish of poor quality that we also did not eat ... They would not refund or discount but took a coke of the account...

Very disappointing food, atmosphere and hospitality , it is never the issue with anything in business but moreso the owners taking responsibility for the poor quality and providing a better service or solution...

We were looking forward to making this hotel our new favourite dining place being local and on arrival had decided to book the family dinner this weekend for 12 there - We will not return to this hotel based on the lack of care for the quality of the food .

My husband had the crab pasta and a mouthful only of the frozen fish and has been u well and in bathroom with diahorea immediately following the meal and Continuing..

Both staff were pleasant and lovely not their fault management was not interested in the poor food quality...

Such a disappointment. Holly served us & seemed annoyed we had arrived with 3 kids. When she noticed I was frustrated with her short & rude responses to my questions her service slightly improved. The children’s meals arrived first which was a nice gesture but my son couldn’t eat his cheeseburger which was rock hard! After 50mins of waiting for our mains the 2 steaks & salmon arrived. We were told medium steak takes that long to cook! It would’ve been nice to know that when we ordered. We were charged $42 per steak & had to leave it in the plate because it was so chewy! I actually had to physically remove the meat from my mouth as it couldn’t be swallowed! The salmon was over cooked. I was so angry I could barely speak when we left! Still waiting for the kids ice cream with the kids meal! Never will return! If children aren’t welcome don’t have a...

Old style pub that offers simple, no frills service and a well priced meal that tasted good. I recommend the $18 lunch specials for great value! The place looked clean, the noise level was moderate and there was some outside seating for a warm, sunny day. Inside there are televisions with different sporting games on and some tall and short tables to sit at. The usual old school beers ontap, but they do have plenty of craft beers in the fridge and a decent wine list. Next door is a pokies venue which I avoided. The menu looks like the usual offerings from a pub including schnitzels, burgers, pies, pastas and curries. I only had one complaint with my delicious Caesar Salad in that the poached egg was actually hard boiled. Nice place that’s worth a visit!

Came here for a family gathering and dinner. Whilst we had a 6pm reservation, the restraint filled quickly and went from quiet to noisey, which was surprising given the number of soft furnishings. This can make it difficult to hear those a couple of seats from you. We opted for still water, but despite being filtered, it tasted chlorinated. The waiter was happy to replace this with another. Many of us had the Lamb Rump, whilst others Duck, or items from the kids' menu. We chose a bottle of the Fiano white wine, which was crisp and refreshing. For desert, I had the Berry and Rosemary Cheese Cake, and a cappuccino. Both of which were delightful.
