Melt Hyde Park — Restaurant in Adelaide

I was extremely disappointed! I went with 5 Girl friends after work on a Monday night. One friend ordered Tappas and the rest of us ordered pizzas. The Tappas arrived after approximately 25 minutes and the pizzas arrived an hour after the order was placed. No dramas, we could see they were busy and we were all enjoying a good catch up anyway. When the pizzas arrived, they were very dry! So much so, that the base of the pizzas actually crumbled as though they had been way over cooked and there was minimal sauce on them. We were all very disappointed as you can imagine. When the Manager/owner approached us at the end of our evening, we attempted to give him feedback that the pizzas were very dry. To our complete amazement, the Manager/ owner immediately became aggressive and began shouting how he would not have eaten the pizza and why didn't we tell him at the time. We politely attempted to say that we were just passing on feedback and that we did not have time to wait an hour for further pizzas to be made, so we just made the most of a bad situation. The Manager/ owner continued to shout and carry on! We were unbelievably astounded by his behaviour. We asked to get the bill so we could get out of there ASAP because we were all so embarrassed!!!! The owner then shouted "just leave it and dont pay for the pizzas!!!!" I stated to the owner that this was not an issue and all we were trying to do was pass on feedback. The owner then refused to let his staff member come over with the efpos machine. He was now acting like a child. I have NEVER witnessed this sort of behavior in a restaurant in my life!!!!!! Luckily there was an ATM machine outside so we could get cash.. (im sure lots of you readers are the same. I pay with everything on my card and hardly carry cash anymore) We left the cash on the table (covering our whole bill) and could NOT get out of the restaurant quick enough. I will certainly never be going back to that restaurant nor recommending it to any of my friends. I am still in absolute shock by the way that Manager/ owner was aggressive and shouting at us 5 females. It was absolutely disgusting...

TBH Absolutely the worst experience I EVER HAD IN MY LIFE from THE OLDER male waiter behind the counter was so RUDE WOW.!!!!

We came for dinner and drinks around 5. 30pm with my staff to have pizza and Tappas. They asked do we have a booking and I said no. They said we could sit on the side tall table along the wall till 6.30pm but because the guests came early while sitting down we had to move to next table behind us. Which was OK and understood. We ordered a good amount, pizza and wine and 3 Tappas. Half way thru eating the older male waiter said we have to move to the bar and finish of our meal there because the table is booked. Which was not told prior. We were very shocked of his rude approach and manner, he kept telling us to move, as this table is booked, he was argumentative and wouldn't let up, never been treated so rudely and spoken to. He went off to have a words at the waitresses. I was not prepared to move as we were still eating. I could see he has an angry manner to the waitresses. The waitresses were so frienly and working in hospitality is what's expected. If he is not the owner I would recommend the management to dismiss him immediately.

I also work in hospitality and if he worked for me, thank God he doesn't . He wouldn't last another minute in my business. .

The food was lovely as always. Very much enjoyed. Except for the rude bully I would have given a five star rating.

But the RUDE male waiter put such a dampener on the evening. Who should know better being older .

I hope no one goes thru what we experienced this evening at Melt Hyde Park. 😳 The waitress was so apologetic At least they acknowledged our disapoval and mentioned I will write a review. SUCH AN...

Impromptu dinner plans had us hunting for a dining destination on a Monday, a night when usually all the hot spots are closed.

But after a quick phone call to some fellow foodie friends who lived nearby, we were pointed in the direction of Melt. First thing to note, when a restaurant is fully booked on a Monday they must be doing something right.

The menu was split into Tapas & Pizza, but as this was a quick drive-by meal we just opted for a quick pizza.

We chose the Albondigas (with Spanish meatballs) & the Jamon (with Rocket and Parmesan). The toppings were top end; no dodgey dollar saving ingredients here kids. The gluten free base was also great and carried our toppings gracefully.
