Accidentally discovered Miss V after coming out of coles on Prospect Rd, as we were parked nearby and happened to look up and spot their sign! What a wonderful discovery⊠they do desserts, specialty Vietnamese drinks and street food snacks. Not full meals. But they do Ca phe Trung here - which I havenât had since I was in Hanoi (itâs a specialty there). Well, didnât have it this time, it was too hot đ„” but I will be going back to have one there. Theyâre yum đ We had a dessert drink and a dessert, both of which not only looked delightful but tasted really good and were not too sweet. We ploughed in. Loved the murals on the walls and the Vietnamese coffee paraphernalia as well as their Vietnam wall. I did feel like I was back in Hanoi, only this place was light and fresh looking. Places in Hanoi tended to be darker in the old quarter. Miss V is inviting, the menu is reasonably priced, which my daughter commented on and she regularly goes out for dessert; and the drink and dessert we had, tasted really great. This was something new, unexpected and really good on Prospect Rd, which until the Foodland face lift is finished, is looking a little tired after the demise of Sunnyâs. We loved Miss V, it is a delightful surprise - especially for someone who enjoys a good pastry, cake or biscuit with a coffee but is not so interested in an overpriced, overdone dessert concoction aimed mainly at older kids. These are authentic, SE Asian or Vietnamese sweet delights which anyone can enjoy đ They are not only visually appealing (served in a coconut bowl) but taste really delicious too. The service there is polite, restrained and efficient while still a quiet, friendly presence. I loved it here and will be back often to try other things - especially at their price point. The Ca phe Trung (Vietnamese egg coffee like Italian Zabaglione or coffee with a whipped egg mousse on top - egg whipped with condensed milk. Yum) will have to wait for me⊠and the savoury snacks too. The desserts, I wish to try over and over. And they make all the ingredients there, in-house. We watched while wriggly, sweet green noodles were made behind the counter, for their desserts! This was like being in Vietnam againâŠ. Beware the leprechaun seating which actually my daughter commented on as not being comfortable rather than me, but it is authentic to cafes in Vietnam. Not for the elderly or faint of...
Read moreAfter 2 attempts, these are my favs in case you wondering what to order đđ» Coco-Avo (kem bÆĄ): pretty nice coconut ice cream with the right sweetness & flavour of the avocado smoothie. đđ» All about coco (chĂš dừa non): love all of the ingredients, definitely worth trying. đđ» The silken tofu (hot version): sometimes all u need is a simple dessert, this is the one. Nothing special about it, simply refreshing. Would appreciate if they have tapioca pearls. đđ» Flan the lot (chĂš flan tháșp cáș©m): my first time trying this one was just so so, not very impressive. Came back and tried again, it actually pretty good. Flan was rich and fluffy, waterchestnut tapioca seeds (háșĄt lá»±u) had the right chewy and crunchy texture. Pandan drops had noticeable pandan flavour but were overcooked and too soft âčïž
Dishes that I am not recommend: âïžPanna cutie (chĂš khĂșc báșĄch): quite plain, below average, serving size was smaller than other dishes, did not worth the price. âïžThe silken tofu (cold version): interestingly, I found this cold version having significantly less tofu than the hot version, having way too much coco cream in it, the pandan drops are standard. âïžEgg coffee (cĂ phĂȘ trứng): I was excited to try this out cause they listed it as their signature drink but it disappointed me. Too much vanilla flavour (I guess they trying to hide the raw egg smells) even though it does have a nice creamy texture. Something else to consider: the design is very cute and sitting is typically Vietnamese the atmosphere is lovely, clean & bright dish presentation is pretty good front staff is a bit unhelpful đ been asking what is their recommendation but always received âeverything is goodâ lol. beware that there is a 20mins to 1 hr waiting time at peak hours. I ordered through the phone for takeaway to avoid this, or simply visit at off-peak hours. Having said so, I still gave 5/5 for their prices (so cheap in comparison with other dessert places), staff friendliness and...
Read moreI recently visited Miss V on Prospect Road and had a great experience overall. The cafe is well located with parking available. The parking can quickly get full, sharing it with few other businesses around.
The atmosphere was relaxed, as the cafe wasn't too busy. However, I found the seating to be quite low, reminiscent of Asian street seating. Even as an Asian myself, I found it a bit too low for comfort.
The desserts were amazingâauthentic, different, and not overly sweet. I particularly enjoyed the matcha red bean and "all about coco," which truly lived up to its name with a rich coconut flavor.
One suggestion I have is to offer more hot or warm desserts, as the current selection is mostly cold and icy. Additionally, the only hot drink option available was coffee, which isn't ideal for those avoiding caffeine later in the day. Adding options like tea or hot soy milk or hot tofu would be a great improvement.
Overall, I loved the desserts and will definitely visit again. Miss V delivers on its menu promises, and with a few tweaks, it could be...
