I had one of the most humiliating and upsetting experiences of my life at the Nando’s Mawson Lakes (SA) branch. I placed an order for a Protein-Powered Harvest Bowl and paid for it. However, the staff also brought out a half chicken, which I never ordered. When I checked my bank account, I realized I had been charged for that extra item as well.
I politely explained to the staff that the person who took my order seemed to be a trainee and may have made a mistake by adding and charging for the half chicken. I wasn’t asking for anything unreasonable—just a refund for something I didn’t order.
To my shock, instead of understanding or even listening properly, the staff began arguing with me. They bluntly said I wouldn’t be getting a refund and insisted it was my responsibility to check the bill, placing all the blame on me. The situation escalated unnecessarily. I stood up to speak with the manager, trying to explain myself calmly, but was aggressively interrupted by the same staff member who rudely said, “Stop your horses.”
He was loud, rude, and deeply insulting. Even worse, he began mocking me in front of other staff. I could hear them laughing and gossiping about me. I felt completely disrespected and belittled. I had never been made to feel so small, so humiliated in public, especially over something that wasn’t even my fault.
I requested a full refund since I hadn't touched the food—I couldn’t even eat after the way I was treated. But again, they refused. When I asked for the staff’s names, they wouldn’t tell me. I was left with no option but to take a picture of the individual who had insulted me. The staff member in question appeared to be of Indian background and his name seemed to be either Hadi or Hardik. He showed no remorse—no apology, no courtesy. Just pure disrespect from beginning to end.
I left the restaurant in tears. I felt humiliated, embarrassed, and deeply hurt. I didn’t eat anything. I just walked out, completely shaken.
I now formally request a full refund and a sincere written apology for the unacceptable behavior I was subjected to. If I do not receive this, I will be left with no choice but to escalate this issue to the Ombudsman and relevant customer rights...

We have ordered the whole chicken and chips. We asked for potato chips staff said finished and he was not saying that politely. We asked to clean a table so that we can sit ,he refused and he said can’t because restaurant so busy. My husband asked to make whole chicken into 8 pieces, he refused. Said they don’t do it. But we are very old Nando’s customer and always tell them to make 8 pieces and always other staff did. From the beginning today staff’s expression was rude. If you have cameras inside Nando’s , you can check his rude behaviour. He was talking with us very roughly. And after 15 minutes when I saw still they are cleaning the stove and didn’t started cooking yet I asked how long it will take? And he replied as I said before , 25 min. Me and my husband both haven’t heard that. And when I said we haven’t heard that and you didn’t informed us he kept arguing that he informed us. But actually he didn’t. Read moreI am utterly disappointed with my recent dining experience at Mawson lakes nandos . First and foremost the service is TERRIBLE. It was as if our presence inconvenienced them. Our orders were repeatedly mixed up. Not only were we served dishes we hadn’t ordered, but the most adorning part was when dishes intended for other tables were placed on ours instead of rectifying it, the servers simply took the dishes back to the kitchen and then, shockingly returned them to the rightful customers without any acknowledgement of the error. Our table became a chaotic mess of misplaced orders, creating a confusing atmosphere. As for the food I ordered the “Nandocas Choice” expecting the usual chicken thigh or breast, only to be served a burger with pieces of tenders inside instead and the portion sizes were laughable considering the Hefty prices we were charged. What truly surprised me, however was the utter lack of apology or remorse from the staff. It was an abundantly clear that we were treated with disdain and disrespect.
