I’ve been going to Paladino’s Cucina since I found this gem in early October after I had heard about it from a friend. At first glance, the restaurant is very warm and inviting and I am always greeted by lovely staff members as I enter. Whether I am with a small group or large group or people, we are always accommodated and made to feel extremely welcome.

I have had the opportunity to try almost every item on the menu, and I am constantly overwhelmed with the variety of flavour. My favourite starters would have to be the polpette, commonly referred to as meatballs, which is cooked in a rich sugo, complemented with a sprinkle of Parmesan cheese. In addition to this, I am also a huge fan of the calamari fritti and chilli mussels. For main, my go to is the penne calabrese or the scallopine mare monte. Paladinos also has a variety of sides to add to your meals; the green beans with the pancetta chilli and garlic being my favourite. If you’re still not convinced, Paladino’s has a wide variety of desserts that are often a hit. On many occasions, once the kitchen has started to slow down, the main chef Joe will come around and introduce himself to many of his customers, making sure they have been looked after. It’s the next best thing to Nonna’s house. I look forward to...

Joe, the owner, kindly took us through a delicious feed me menu, beginning with an Antipasto Platter. A generous platter with tasty produce featuring a mix of cold cuts, pickled veggies and hot items. A promising way to start our meal.

Next came pasta, which was cooked al dente; packed full of flavour. We got to try their Penne Calabrese and Linguini Granchio (Crab). Our nostrils peaked with delight with the scent of rosemary when the mains came out. The hand-cut potatoes and juicy assorted meat platter paired with Insalata was so aromatic!

Our second stomachs came alive at the sight of the chocolate mousse and tiramisu. (We prefer desserts that aren’t overly sweet) and these really hit the spot! The mousse was thick, yet airy and tasted creamy with a melt-in-the-mouth texture. The tiramisu had the perfect balance without feeling too heavy.

Italian food the way it’s meant to be - simple, yet satisfying to the palate and wallet. We look forward to our next visit as the Cucina Vecchia menu is calling our names - sporting dishes such as Beef Tripe, Gnocchi Polpette Al Forno &...

We love our old Italian food and Paladino’s Cucina does it well. In fact, everything on the menu looked so delicious we had a hard time ordering! And THEN.. we realised there was another whole side of the menu we hadn’t even read! We settled on the Caprese salad to start which was delicious and fresh and Nonna Cata’s Polpette which just melted in your mouth. They were divine and we had fun mopping up the sauce in some fresh bread. We were both craving pasta so we opted for the Spaghetti Aglio Olio and the Linguine Granchio which were both cooked perfectly. The staff were so friendly and great checking in for extra drinks or to refull waiter glasses. A big tick! The only odd moment of the night was when my partner really wanted to try the Trippa (tripe) and requested to order in an entrée size because we clearly had ordered too much food. The waitress went to check if this could be accommodated and told us no it could not. We advised we were happy to pay for it (we just didn’t want to waste the food) but they were adamant it could only be served in a main size. Very odd!
