My wife and I have only just had the opportunity to check out one of our local restaurants having moved to Glenelg Sth in the last 6 months. Firstly, Polk is a really cool, clean, bright, vibrant and welcoming setting and we were greeted with a friendly, professional and genuinely warm welcome on arrival for our sitting at 530pm on Saturday 15th Jan. Our table was clean and comfortable. The menu, both food and constails/drinks, were filled with innovation and a sensible amount of options. Too often restaurants deprive you of options or make too many and every time the latter happens the quality drops. NOT HERE!!! The service was fantastic, very well run as a team. The food was fantastic, for starters we shared and opted for the Kingfish sashimi/Gyoza dumplings-These were fresh, well presented and tasted amazing. For mains, I opted for the Barra yellow curry and my wife the pork belly-again these dishes were presented very well and the taste was simply beautiful with good depth and balance of spice. The cocktails were fantastic and well worth a try, we went through the Lychee/martini spritz, elderflower spritz and kiwi whisky sours (as a big whisky drinker these were phenomenal and innovative again!!) My wife and I live for culinary experiences and were very impressed with the standard of food and drinks, the professionalism, personability and overall experience. We would highly recommend Polk to anyone in the area and we will most certainly be back again, very soon.
A huge thank you to Mel and her team and indeed the phenomenal flavours from their simply...
Read moreWe decided to come to Polk for dinner after seeing how popular it was when we walked by a little while ago, and read some good reviews. I'd have to say that the overall experience was only okay. Some good and some not so good. . Drinks were pretty good with a reasonable selection, and they came out pretty quickly. The service was pretty good overall. However, the food was a bit more hit or miss for us, and took quite a while to come out. . Salt and pepper tempura soft shell crab: good crunchy texture, but the flavour was a bit bland unfortunately. . Sticky chicken wings: the sauce was good, but the chicken itself was a bit mediocre. I only wish the meat had more flavour, and that they were more caramelised. . Kangaroo carpaccio: this was a super creative dish with excellent flavours. Definitely the standout of the meal. . Red wine sticky pork ribs: this was a bit disappointing. The sauce tasted very similar to the sauce used for the chicken wings. The meat was quite a bit on the tough side. You really want that meat to be a lot more tender, and potentially even falling off the bone. Definitely expected more for a dish that cost more than 30$. . Broccolini: good side dish. But nothing special. . Dessert roti with banana and condensed milk: I quite enjoyed this dessert dish. It was pretty...
