We had the most amazing vegan meal the other night at Sky Vietnamese Cuisine and Cafe in Ward Street, North Adelaide. Firstly we were blown away by the warm greeting and helpfulness of Mikey, the owner as we entered. For starters we had the most phenomenal taro spring rolls, followed up with the vegan pho, vegan clay pot and a Vietnamese coffee 😍... We didn’t have much room left, but we certainly destroyed the vegan creme brĂ»lĂ©e đŸ€€. We both HIGHLY recommend that everyone check out this place; vegan or not. Super tasty food and amazing service. Cheers heaps Mikey đŸ‘ŠđŸŒ Ooh forgot to mention, Mikey was showing us some other vegan dishes that they can do, but because they haven’t had the demand for it, they’ve had to drop em. So if you’re vegan, or happy to eat tasty, healthy, cruelty free food for a change, head on in and start asking for these other special dishes and show em some love.

I had been wanting to visit Sky for a very long time so as I was visiting from Melbourne I made sure I did on my last night in Adelaide. I was still recovering from having wisdom teeth taken out and thank god I was able to eat by last night (I would have gone through pain to eat at this restaurant either way) The chef was exceptionally helpful, going through the menu with us shortly after we had arrived. Each drink, entre and main dish came out reasonably quick and the chef was just great all the way through, coming out to chat with us. I love a restaurant that is humble about their food and produce quality food. Menu is HUGE, something for everyone! Sugar and gluten free options too. Mushroom steak was delicious and the Milo bear was a treat. Will be coming back. P.s Also they even have such cool drinks to chose from!

I came here with my friends as a going away recently. I was astounded by the options for fake meat dishes. I went pescatarian a couple of yrs ago but there's still dishes i miss having so it is really nice having a restaurant that can cater to a vege diet. I had the combination pho and black salt tofu. I enjoyed the fried food as well, normally I detest a lot of fried food because it's greasy and gluggy but this wasn't. I also thought it was interesting that their meat menu was smaller than their vege menu. Was pretty cool to see and considerate of the owner to have an all-inclusive menu catering to a variety of needs/diets so anyone can be included. The owner was an exceptional host. The food was delicious and well priced, considering as well vegan/health food is charged pretty high in some places

I rarely write reviews of restaurants, but Sky is one of those places where you go in and immediately feel as though you are part of their extended family. The owner/operators are amazingly friendly and humble people and really know how to create dishes that will amaze your taste buds. Their staff have always been very friendly, helpful, and a credit to the business. I have read some of the negative reviews and I suspect the “serial reviewers” may have had ulterior motives as their reviews seemed quite personal. We have NEVER had a bad or overpriced meal, but I would encourage you to make up your own mind and support this local, family-owned business, not run it down from behind your keyboard.

Now, onto the food. We have been coming to their restaurant since they were in North Adelaide (yes, they are the exact same restaurant) and were very happy when they re-opened in Port Adelaide. Their Laksa is probably the best I have ever tried. The Magic mushroom dish is amazing and one of my all-time favourites from ANY vegan restaurant.

There was a mushroom steak a few weeks ago that was served with a peppercorn sauce and chips that was not necessarily a traditional Vietnamese dish, but I could have sat there and eaten two of them if the dish hadn’t been so large and filling. It was so incredible I recommended it to the couple who sat down next to us. Their curries are so full of flavour that we often order an extra few meals before leaving so that we can freeze them for nights where we don’t have time to cook. I cannot recommend this restaurant highly enough but please try it for yourself and I am sure you will love it as...

I really wanted to like this place. Maybe we just struck a bad night but I'm not willing to spend more there money to find out any time soon.

We were talked into the new special, the mushroom steak, completely underwhelming. Delicious but $25 For what was basically 3x mushrooms and a handful of chips? Also a strange special for a Vietnamese restaurant.

My pho was tiny, it consisted of one mushroom, 2x pieces of fried tofu and noodles served with herbs. the bowl was so small that just the bean shoots changed the flavour and it was cold in no time. The broth was really underwhelming too, and no veggies??

The entrees were tiny, although delicious, tiny and poor quality for the price.

The timing of the food was weird, we got our entrees very shortly after ordering and well before our drinks, then there was a big gap between them and the mains. Delaying the entrees even by 5 minutes would have made a world of difference.

Then... Then there was the dessert... a 'creme brulee' which for $14 was a small solid frozen disk thing (maybe from Aldi?) with burnt sugar on top (char burnt) and a sprig of coriander... It was a struggle to get the teaspoon through it and it was left unfinished it was that bad, definitely not creme brulee.

I have never been this disappointed with an all vegan restaurant. I'm so sad because they seem to be trying but it also seems like they don't know what they're doing, the service was sweet but unprofessional and boarderline frantic.

Sky - I'm keen to see how you might turn this...

my friend and i.Both agreed on the 2 mains. As not up to standard. beef n basil and .chicken n hokien noodles the beef basil had a very pungent sharp overpowering flavour in the sauce.it hadnt been balanced.Poor techniques. The food waa placed on cold serving plates.precooked n heated ??.There was no fresh cooking steam !It didnt seem like it had been prep n cooked from fresh.Just didnt have heat right thru the food ! The noodle dish lacked flavour. There was no lustious tasty sauce clinging n coating the noodles. So quite bland. The chicken bland and dryish.wasnt a tender texture.again.lacked cooking heat.precooked.?(Cooked to order from fresh raw is a better result.) Bit of fresh veg in both. lack of skill and cant do gr8 tasty recipes or they dont care cutting corners.?If a meal is cooked properly and.is a good recipe.Thats a restaurants BEST ADVERTISEMENT. Didnt hear a wok banging round..the kitchen is close by. Noodles were plated ?More pratical.to be served in a bowl. the interior is pleasant to look at. bifold doors.NO Fly Screens. So if they open both sets front doors in hot weather.the flies will pour in..!Confusing as they also sell pizzas. Going by our dishes.Theyl have to care more.make better recipes.cook to order than pre cook n reheat.(As i suspect). Cut back their menu.if they are struggling.Cook better recipes.Texture everything Get some passion and love. And remember.People can cook better.at home.Theyl need to do much better .As why wld people eat there.if they cook...
