Semaphore Hotel — Restaurant in Adelaide

Encountered such appalling service at this establishment. We had just come from the Holi festival celebrations by the beach and wanted to grab some food and drinks. My 8 year old daughter also desperately needed the toilet. We walked into the establishment, my uncle walked to the bar to order our drinks as my daughter and I walked over the this toilet. The lady at the bar rudely (in front of everyone) yelled our NO! You can't go in there with paint on you. Our clothes were covered in coloured corn flour which I completely respect her concern! She then proceeded to tell me to use the public toilets.

I had to walk my poor 8 year old, busting for a toilet visit in 38 degree heat up and down the road to find toilets. Here is where my concern lies

Is this a racial target.... does she refuse toilet use of all tradies who are covered in dirt and paint that come in for a pint after work? Does she and the establishment have kids that they have ZERO empathy on a parent and paying customer to use the facilities of the establishment. Is it legally okay to deny the use of a toilet for paying customers.

I will call out that this person did put the blame on the establishment saying that's what they had said. Which I dont understand? Is the rules "no colours and paint on your top when using the toilet but its okay to spend money here"?

Or was using the establishment an excuse for her poor approach and judgement. I hope she doesn't have kids and just didnt understand how hard it can be trying to accommodate to a child's needs in these situations.

Anyway shame on you Semaphore hotel....i am one...

Yeah probably skip tbh.

Last night I arrived 10mins before the kitchen closed (8PM as advertised) both staff members told me I was completely fine to order and that it would be their final order for the night. I apologised and they were nice about it all. I waited 45 mins for 1 entree and 1 main. I asked one of the staff members and they told me the entree would be a further 5mins and the main 15mins. Both orders arrived within 5mins after this which would probably indicate my order was forgotten about. The pizza that I ordered for main was completely undercooked and rushed, and tasted like raw dough. The entree, potato and cheese sticks, was actually pretty nice.

When the food arrived the staff member said it was actually late due to how many orders they had. The excuse confused me as there were only 3 other tables there and no one had any further food ordered or received since the first 10mins we were...

Ordered breakfast and it took ages for 2 meals with coffee, excellent front of house service.

Tried using QR code from table to order, which charges a fee of $1.00. Unfortunately I was charged and was unable to order. Front of house refunded the $1.00. Again, excellent front of house service.

Coffee came out and it was excellent.

2 meals came out eventually and they were both stone cold: eggs Benedict and smashed avocado.

Meals returned: again, excellent front of house service.

Unfortunately both meals came back out and they were both stone cold.

Front of house asked how the meals were and I was honest. “Only ate them because we were hungry”.

Front of house here is excellent with great coffee too.
