Lamb & Rosemary Pie $7.50
So my #fridaypieday adventure didn't stop there. Went down to Skala Artisan Bakery at Semaphore S.A. They have 5 other outlets in Adelaide. On recommendation I got the Lamb & Rosemary pie.
Wow another amazing looking pie ! The presentation of the pie looked really good. The pastry had a lovely golden glow in the sunlight. The lid had a little bit of flake and a slight crunch to it. It looked pretty well cooked and the base was good. A couple of spots may have needed a touch more. Biting into the pie the flavours were all there, the juiciness of the lamb was unreal. Perfectly cooked š The sauce had a rosemary taste to it, wasn't overpowering, the gravy/sauce to meat ratio was spot on. I must say the juiciness, combined with the flavours of the sauce made it taste unreal. The serving temp was spot on, and the 3/4 of the pie held up fine, it would have held up together perfectly. The serving temp was good too. Thanks Danielle and team for having me there. This would probably have to be the tastiest Lamb and Rosemary pie i've had - hands down !

Ā Ā Ā Read moreOrdered a variety of sweets to serve to family (donuts, jelly cakes/lamingtons etc) and all items I purchased were very stale and old unfortunately, especially the mini donuts. The Christmas fruit mince pies were very disappointing too as they were awfully dry and didnāt have a great deal of flavour. Not apart of my review as my direct service was good but adding for general feedback - the girl who served me was very friendly, but there was a line behind me so I moved off to the side while my food was being packaged so the next person could be served and the other lady working just stood there and didnāt serve or say anything (not sure if new and learning), but no one working seemed to acknowledge the people waiting (no āhelloāsā or even say āweāll be with you shortlyā, everyone just stood in silence while the line kept forming which...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreSkala is definitely a fresh newly opened Cafe; it only opened last month and is the 4th venture for this group. We visited based on the reputation of the baked goods that we had sampled elsewhere. However, plenty of teething problems at present with this operation. For a start, newly trained staff did not appear to be supported by a more experienced Supervisor on a Sunday. The only coffee cups available were take-away 'cardboard flavour drainers' (a pet hate for the 'have here' experience. And, worst of all, there were no sausage rolls before midday!. However, the selection of goods available, and the clean fit-out of the Cafe definitely saved a star rating point. Given time and experience I don't doubt this place will lift its game. I'll have to review the coffee flavour when real crockery is available; today's was...
