Captain Chicken and Seafood Semaphore — Restaurant in Adelaide

Semaphore BBQ chickens has been a staple in the peninsula, along with Sotos - I have been coming here since the 90's.

Last night will be the last time.

Apparently it is under new ownership, which is fine, but when the new owner comes in with sweeping changes that aren't for the better, you lose me.

First of all, no more chips in bags. They are now in cardboard boxes, which don't survive the trip home as well, and you get less for your money. This is a big one, the "medium" serving size was well under what we used to get.

Secondly, the fish now comes packaged in the same style of cardboard box, but joining it were a few tubs of tartare and lemon slices. The tubs weren't closed properly and leaked all over the fish, and the lemon juice just added to the slurry making for soggy crumbed fish.

You could argue that getting sauce for free is a good thing, but at least ask, and package it properly.

THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE I HAVE EVER RECEIVED . Ordered through menu log - waited 1 hour…. Still no driver assigned. Several unanswered calls to shop.. Decided to drive to the shop. Was told they had nothing to do with “Menulog”??? Really. Offered food that was sitting for an hour or get nothing. Owner didn’t see the problem with the situation!!!! Advised to call “Menulog” Nothing else was offered. Owner was rude and abrupt. HUGE concerns with food safety. Being a local and wanting to support local business, I would NEVER order again!!!! Very disappointed. Would strongly recommend others to eat elsewhere….

For a change thought Id get chicken. Hadn't been to Semaphore chicken shop for a while. Utter chaos, 5-6 people 'working'. Appeared no-one knew what was going on. No order numbers. No-one leading..Young lady who was giving out orders was struggling, she did realise an apology was in order given the time i waited for a basic order. Uber driver waited and waited. Eventually i got home. Chicken was moist, but no flavour. When i ordered i was asked if i preferred leg or.. i said legs please... whats the point in asking if you don't deliver, i.e. i didnt get legs!
