Friendly staff but REALLY need to pay better attention to the food they serve. My parents and I came in for lunch in early afternoon and my mum ordered a gluten free meal because she has Coeliac Disease and has chronically severe reactions for hours when she eats anything with even the tiniest bit of Gluten in it. She ordered a Gluten Free chicken and avocado focaccia and I ordered a chicken and avocado roll, which wasn't gluten free. The young girl working there served my mum with Coeliac disease the chicken roll and said it the chicken foccacia and then the other other older woman served me the gluten free foccacia and it was when she told us what it was, that it was too late because mum had already begun eating hers. She promptly stopped eating it and they bought out a new chicken roll. The owner woman apologised and responded with a giggly nervous snickering laugh when we told her mum's reaction to gluten and as she'd finished serving our table, her response was "Im so sorry about that, enjoy your meals and good luck for later though". Within 5 mins of leaving the cafe, the reaction to the Gluten kicked in and mum became so violently sick as usually happens and this reaction continued into the evening....so badly she had to go to her GP and get an injection of Maxalon to stop being sick and nauseous but was also overcome with sweating and a migraine on top of all that. I'd usually give this place 4 stars for the food and friendly service and yes accidents and mistakes do happen. But the response we got when we told them how this was now going to affect her was shocking. When you're in the food and hospitality industry, special attention needs to be paid when preparing and serving meals to people with food allergies and intolerances because this situation could be a lot worse if the wrong foods or ingredients is served to someone who has an anaphylactic reaction to something they've specifically...
Read moreWe had 3 breakfast dishes and drinks. Total was over $80. The two thick shakes were served with metal straws. One straw after being sipped on and tasted like metal was placed on the table to drain off and rusty liquid poured from it. . The girl offered to replace the drink minus using the metal straws. Totally gross. The pancake stack with maple bacon was inedible past the top pancake with the bottom being very hard. The eggs Benedict hollandaise sauce was vinegary and totally curdled looking. Absolutely disgusting. The omlett was okay and the latte was also good. Wont be returning though.
We were offered a free breakfast and took the offer recently. I'll lift the star by one point but still feel the chef and perhaps a menu...
Read moreWhat a treat to have such amazing Thai and SE Asian food in Semaphore. Loved every single dish and cannot wait to come back for more. Beef Satay was on the menu, asked if we could have chicken skweres instead, absolutely no problem - and they were delicious. Spring rolls were to die for. I had the lamb shank massamam for main, the lamb just slipped off the bone into the delicious massamam sauce - incredible. Ended with fried ice cream - shared been a few of us and we all loved it. To top it off, service was brilliant - very warm and friendly. They also open for brunch and lunch, dinner is from Thursdays. Can't wait to come back and try...
