Honestly, it saddens me to make this review. All the negative (genuine) reviews are right, as unfortunate as it is. Whilst the food was decent, the rest of the place is a circus. No section of the restaurant appears to be working together by any means. No staff appear to have received the most basic hospitality training. One girl (long dark hair, Mediterranean heritage) literally told us âthatâs not my job Iâm on passâ when we sought a drink after waiting an half an hour for anyoneâs attention. We ended up going to the bar ourselves only to be served by a girl who did not know how to pour a glass of wine (and she was not the only one). We kept receiving spoons instead of proper cutlery - of which when flagged we usually had to wait another 10 minutes for.
We and neighbouring tables waited an appalling amount of time for food, of which come out very inconsistently (2 hours turned into almost 4) with other tables appearing to be the owners/associate of the owners, waited on tentatively by all staff. Owners did not appear to notice staffâs lack of attention to all others excluding themselves. Great explanations of food were also given to these tables (sometimes by even the chef!), but all paying customers only appeared to get the basics from the clueless girls on pass âhereâs your fish/steakâ etc. When asked for any more information on our meals, we were told âthey (kitchen) havenât/wonât tell usâ.
All tables (excluding food drop off) were waited on by only one waitress (Asian heritage). This woman was worked off her feet with a smile, especially given the remaining 3 spent half their shift at the pass giggling and doing sweet FA whilst waiting for food to be ready (and like I said, that took hours). Neither of these girls or any member of staff had any initiative to help out or get help for the poor waitress.
Whilst this restaurant has potential, looks are not everything. Unfortunately, I will not be back and I will not encourage others to...
Read moreI had high expectations for Sora, having previously had the best cocktail of my life there. That experience was nothing short of incredible, so naturally, I was excited to return. Unfortunately, this time was the complete oppositeâtruly one of the worst cocktails Iâve ever had. I ordered the exact same drink, at the exact same bar, but it was undrinkable. I assume the bartender was different because the contrast in quality was shocking.
When I politely asked for the drink to be remade, the bartender was rude and dismissive, claiming I had already âdrunk itâ when I had barely taken a sip. After some back and forth, he begrudgingly remade it, but not without a display of frustrationâthrowing the glass away in anger before making a new one. The replacement cocktail was mediocre at best, nowhere near the standard I experienced on my first visit.
Beyond the drinks, the atmosphere at Sora tries too hard to be âexclusive,â but it simply does not work. I have lived in Paris for years and visited many high-end venues, none of which were as unnecessarily strict. Twice now, they have made a fuss about my shoesâbrand-new ones I specifically bought to meet their dress code. Yet, they still found something to complain about. This attempt at prestige is misplaced, given that Sora is just a rooftop bar on the ninth floor, not even the top of the building. Itâs not a true luxury experienceâitâs a middle-class venue with inflated self-importance.
At the end of the day, a premium bar should offer not just good drinks but also a high level of hospitality. Sora fails on both fronts. The drinks are inconsistent, the staff is unwelcoming, and the entire experience feels like an overhyped attempt at exclusivity without substance. I would not...
Read moreMy friend was raving about this place as she has been multiple times. I took her there for her 21st birthday and as soon as we entered the building I was in awe of the architecture design and layout and lighting. We sat at the chefs bar and at first we wanted to be moved but eventually grew to actually really love our spot! We were hungry so we ordered one plate of pork dumplings each and one chicken fried rice to share (thinking that we were going to have to get more if it didn't fill us up). We were greeted and served by an incredibly friendly staff member (shout out to Paige!! đ) who served us all night, constantly checked in with us and asked my friend all about her birthday- she even offered to take photos of us! The dumplings were hands down the best dumplings we have ever had and the rice was sooooo good- it actually filled us up! For two girls this is the perfect amount of food (if you were with a guy you'd definitely need more food). A manager approached us and came to talk to my friend about her birthday and he told us that this requires a birthday shot! We told him that we don't drink so he came back with non-alcoholic shots which were so delicious and were on the house- shout out to Tommy!! đđž We went to pay for our food and the staff so kindly knocked off another drink for us. The bill was very reasonably priced and even less than I expected. They then told us we could go anywhere in the restaurant to take photos. We had the best hospitality we had ever received and will definitely come back. Food is delicious Atmosphere is incredible Hospitality is exceptional
First impressions are everything- and mine was exceptional. Thank you SORA for our beautiful experience that made...
