Our family went to this restaurant last night for dinner. When we arrived we were 1 of 3 tables occupied We ordered basic meals, salads and risotto. We waited 40mins for the first meals to come out and about 10 minutes later arrived the rest of the tables food. The food was basic and tasteless and we had to ask for extra spices so we could add flavour to our meal. When we went to pay we asked to halve the bill, from there the trouble began. We paid 3/4 of the bill and after paying that the leftover $$ amount changed by $10 more, the lady blamed the system and re calculated it for it to only be now $20 more than the original, she blamed the system again and finally coming to a total that was $30 or so more than the original owed price. She got another lady (Asian) to help us…. Who then also miscalculated the amount twice before coming to a final amount which ended up being $100 MORE than the original bill. She was very frustrated with us and the service was disgusting. I explained to her that we were very annoyed not because the final amount was incorrect (it seemed to be correct) but the fact that we stood there for 20mins being told 10 different dollar amounts. We ended up paying for it and she offered us a $5 discount on our next bill. Your sparkling water costs more than $5 so we gave it back.

The food was horrible, the wait time was disgusting, and the service was something memorable to say the least. We are frequent travellers to Airlie beach as well as our friends and family. We will never return to the cafe and we will make sure others know of our experience too.

There’s plenty of beautiful restaurants on the strip that we can recommend like MIKA (Amazing food, quick friendly service and half the price) The Airlie Beach Pub (Great atmosphere and...

Avoid at all costs. Booked dinner reservation for 7:30pm online. They called to say they couldn't accommodate us then but would be able to at 8pm. Okay, great, thanks for the heads up! We arrive at 7:55pm, sign in, and they seat us at 8:05pm. Okay, no problems yet, but all downhill from here. No one takes any orders, drinks, water, starters, mains, anything until 8:20 when the waitress finally comes by our table and we decide to order everything (drinks, starters, mains) at once. No drinks (including water) by 8:40 so we had to go and request them which they then delivered promptly. No food still by 9pm. We go and ask how long. 10 mins for starters. We ask to just bring everything out at once. Tapas begin to arrive by 9:10 as promised. Bread was slapped with butter and grilled for 10 seconds for 4 tiny slices, not worth $10. Deep fried Camembert and Peking duck followed, both underwhelming, particularly Peking duck which was cold. Mains started to arrive by 9:15 (an hour and 15 mins after our reso and almost an hour after we ordered), starting with the mushroom risotto which tasted like moist tree bark. They brought out the vegan burger instead of the tacos and tried to ask if that would be okay instead of the tacos. Did not want the burger so they went and remade the tacos which we waited another 15 minutes for and then tried to make us pay for at the end of the night. Other mains were all equally tasteless and uninteresting for the price tag. We finally go up to pay the bill and they ask how everything was and tried to charge for the entire bill. I was only able to negotiate c.10% off the bill, they refused any more. I will never return and I hope this serves as a warning for others to ensure they AVOID...

My first impression on the Village cafe was that the menu looked amazing and l was excited to try it! I was by the door waiting watching the young man in front of me polishing the cutlery for about 5 minutes when a lovely lady from the kitchen welcomed me and gave me the rules of the house. Let me mention the restaurant was empty with maybe two other patrons, there was no way he could have missed me. Anyway since l was by the beach l thought fresh seafood brunch would be awesome, I ordered a Whitsundays mojo absolutely delicious and a pan seared coral trout. I guess what l was expecting was a nice piece of fresh fish with mash BUT what l got was inedible. The fish was thin, rubbery and strange, the mash grey and was not fresh at all, the sauce was weird poured all over with a balsamic glaze that’s contrasted deeply with the creamy sauce. The prawns on top looked good l tried one but the strange sauce did not taste good. I did not eat that meal, l drank my great smoothie which cost me about $60 and left, as much as l loved that smoothie thinking about that meal makes me cringe, please look into that meal and the service no harm in that young man smiling he was not happy, l guess it was all...

We ordered the hot rock platter for two ($85). Amongst the small amount of food served, there was 3 prawns, 3 pieces of fish and 3 scallops. Odd numbers on a plate for 2 and I highly doubt there was 180g of steak. Both hot rocks were not hot enough to cook the food. It didn't sizzle at all and just sat on the rock hardly doing anything. After nearly 10 minutes and only the calamari having barely cooked, I asked for hotter rocks, the waitress didn't want to do it until I pointed out that the food was still raw. She eventually returned with one rock that was hot enough to cook and the other one still not, whch was given to me. No doubt because I made the complaint. I eventually asked for another hot rock and by the time it arrived, we'd been there for 1.5 hours. The service was poor right from the start. The photo is how much the first stones had been able to cook the food.

I don’t understand why this restaurant can still be able to be running in this beautiful Airlie beach! Worst service ever! I paid $42 for a hot rock 200g grass feed eye filet. Taste like a $10 steak from the supper market! Please check the stone in the attached photo. I don’t know if it’s a Caesar stone which is definitely not suitable for cooking food as it’s supposed to be your bench top in the kitchen and made of materials with chemicals! Please invite Gordon Ramsay to have the kitchen nightmares show in here! Don’t go! Don’t go! Don’t go

Our experience was mixed. More than 1 hr wait for food during Christmas Day is probably expected. The food in general were both good but at the one hour wait mark, we were told that one of the dishes was not available and we had to wait longer to reorder. If you are in a rush, this is probably not the place for you. My eggs Benedict was good and my partner’s steak sandwich was also good. But she had to wait another 30 mins (1.5 hrs in total) for hers to arrive. It is Christmas so they must be short staffed and this is understandable.
