Absolutely rubbish…the units are old, dingy and in need of a thorough clean and pest control service. With so many beautiful options to stay at in Airlie Beach, we highly, highly recommend staying elsewhere.
No bedding - just two flat sheets on the bed, and a musty felt blanket in the cupboard that I can assure you hasn’t been washed in a while! Normally hotel bedding comprises of two flat sheets with a doona between - seems these guys have missed housekeeping 101.
Two towels and one face washer provided for two adults.
The apartment was overrun with tiny little ants - the bathroom, kitchen benches, everywhere.
Not to mention the incessant drilling around the pool, which meant we couldn’t enjoy it… no mention anywhere that there would be work undertaken and no concessions provided for our reduced enjoyment.
We had been planning on raising these concerns upon checkout, yet we knew firsthand how businesses have struggled since the pandemic and hence wanted to display some understanding for what is clearly a resort well past it’s glory days.
Unfortunately none of that courtesy or understanding was extended to us.
Our family made our booking through a third travel provider that we utilise for business, and through an error, one of our two children were missed. Come time to checkout, the incredibly brusque and rude older woman at reception comes marching up to the apartment and accuses us of “smuggling in a child”. Excuse me? What do you think this is, Magnums? If we were smuggling in a child, wouldn’t we do that with both? We would have been happy to pay an extra linen fee, however there were only two towels provided for two adults and one child anyway?!
When we tried to explain to this woman that it was a mistake which we would have taken responsibility for, we were met with blatant rudeness and SUCH an unpleasant attitude. If you can’t even converse politely and reasonably with guests, than what are you doing in this industry? It was a stark contrast to the lady we encountered at check in, who was absolutely lovely.
My husband and I both work in the Tourism and Hospitality industry, and we would never speak to a guest the way that this woman spoke to us today. We were in Airlie Beach for an external site visit, as we work extensively with tour groups and working travellers, and unfortunately we certainly won’t be recommending this resort to any of our guests, partners...

I honestly hate that I have to dust off my soap box for this, but people should know the type of people running this place...
I asked a local for a suggestion of a good place to go and she recommended the "hidden gem of Airlie" which was the Whitsunday Terrance Resort and Anchor bar. A place to grab a drink and relax by the pool - exactly what my partner and I needed.
After having a drink, we decide to go lay by the pool. The resort had only allocated the bar 2 spare keys for bar guests, so it took me a while to find the person holding a key to get in. When my partner tried to get in a couple of minutes later, we couldn't find who now had the key, so we spoke to resort management.
This is where things got quite odd. The resort managers refused to give us a key and told us to keep looking for one that belonged to the bar. I even offer to purchase one for the day, yet they still declined. Failing that, we (and another family at that point) just asked one of the other guests in the pool area to borrow their key, but the managers stepped and told us that key sharing was prohibited. The manager then proceeded to close the pool gate between my partner and I. After 5 minutes of asking around, I finally located one of the bar keys, allowing my partner and the waiting family into the pool area.
At this point, being absolutely bewildered at the pointless ordeal that I and the other customers had just been put through, I (unsuccessfully) tried to prop the door ajar to put an end to the nonsense.
After relaxing by the pool for a short while, the resort managers came over saying they had CCTV footage of me trying to bypass the pool gate, and that my partner and I were kicked out.
I can only imagine a parent stuck outside the gate with kids in the pool, having to go through the same ordeal. It's truly a disgrace.
Looking back, I honestly feel embarrassed for the Witsunday Terraces Resort management team. They and their body corporate need to get off their high horse, take a long look in the mirror and get their...
Read moreThe first thing we noticed in arrival was very limited by parking space. Our Keys were left in the safe due to our appointment running over and not making reception time which was great for us. To get to our room we had to go down about 4 flights of stairs. (This was fine for us, but may not be for others.) We booked a 1 bedroom - ocean view room with 2 singles added and we were left very disappointed from the photos of what we were expecting to reality. • The view was a partial ocean view and the outside area was very disappointing. A little 2 seater round table that is your sat at you couldn’t see over the brick balcony (this room was advertised as being equipped for 4 people) The room itself was quite large (room 18) But had a musty smell to it as you first walked in and on arrival the only aircon in the room wouldn’t work but was fixed very fast. • The bathroom was newly renovated but 100% on a cheap budget. The water pressure was great in the shower, but not so good for flushing the toilet. No screens on the bathroom window that needed to be open as there was no exhaust fan or venting. • the main room was large but does not have its own aircon, just a fan. Bedding was 2x flat sheet, good pillows but a hard mattress. Of a night the room was so lit up because of the outside lights even with the curtains pulled. • kitchenette was basic, definitely couldn’t cook, but did have a full size fridge that opened the wrong way for the kitchen, a toaster and kettle. • 1x pool 1x spa. We didn’t find the 2nd pool that is advertised… • 1x pool 1x spa both were clean. We didn’t find the 2nd pool that is advertised…
We did express our disappointment when the aircon was being looked at by the manager, no really care was given either we feel. We didn’t push the issue as we need somewhere to stay the night and had already decided we would be leaving the next day instead of staying our second night, Which we did. We were totally disappointed with this accommodation, really out dated for such a beautiful destination to...
