A Poultry Nightmare: A Review of Alice Springs Red Rooster
A Fowl Experience
One would expect a renowned fast-food chain like Red Rooster to deliver a consistent, if not exceptional, experience. Yet, the Alice Springs branch shatters those expectations with the force of a poorly-defrosted chicken patty. My visit was nothing short of a poultry-infused disaster, an experience that would make even the Colonel himself shed a single tear.
From Order to Ordeal
The ordeal began with a wait that rivaled that of a lost hiker in the Outback. Despite a seemingly manageable queue, the staff meandered through their tasks with the urgency of a sloth on a sleeping pill. After what felt like an eternity, my order was taken. However, the joy of placing an order was swiftly extinguished by the realization that several key menu items were mysteriously absent.
A Symphony of Disappointment
The "food" itself was a symphony of disappointment. The chips were limp and lukewarm, more akin to soggy cardboard than the golden crisp one expects. The chicken, the undisputed star of Red Rooster's menu, was a pale imitation of its former self. The coating, usually a source of guilty pleasure, was a greasy, flavorless mess. The meat itself was dry, stringy, and possessed all the allure of a week-old tire.
A Health Dept. High Note?
One shudders to think about the hygiene standards on display. The staff's lackadaisical approach, coupled with the general disarray of the restaurant, did little to inspire confidence. The mere thought of the food preparation process sends shivers down my spine.
A Fowl Play on Words
"Fast food" is a generous term for the experience. "Slow disappointment" would be a far more accurate description. The only saving grace was the mercifully small portion size, which ensured my physical suffering was mercifully brief.
A One-Star Spectacle
In conclusion, the Alice Springs Red Rooster is a monument to mediocrity. From the sluggish service to the inedible food, every aspect of the experience was a disappointment. If you're looking for a quick and satisfying meal, steer well clear of this establishment. Otherwise, you might just find yourself the unfortunate participant in a...

For most of the last 12mths, once you place your order, you are then informed by the staff that there is no fried chicken, no roast chicken, no burgers, no this, no that...it is a very very rare occasion that they have the full menu, to be able to fulfill "value meals"...
But you have to find out about the lack of food only once an order has been placed....only once have I been informed BEFORE my order, what is actually available...and I nominated that staff member in the 2023 Customer Service Awards...
In response to the frequent disappointment of missing menu items, i had begun to ask what is available before ordering...when doing this today, I also suggested that perhaps the staff should volunteer this information, before someone orders, to which, when asking for a response, was requested to drive around, without my order being taken...
When the person with pink hair opened the drive through window, I explained that he hadn't taken my order, he stated that I hadn't given him the opportunity to inform me about missing menu items, despite him being able to give me the "Welcome to RR" greeting...when I went to explain my position after many disappointing interactions in drive thru, he spoke over the top of me, wouldnt let me speak, and said not to tell him how to do his job...so I asked to speak to the Manager = he's it!!! And when asking about the franchisee, he stated they are friends, then rolled his eyes and slammed the drive thru window shut ...
If this is the manager that the franchisee has employed, I doubt that an improvement in this establishment is forth coming...
I've persisted with this establishment as it is only 1 of 4 drive thru fast food available in Alice, despite it looking welfare and dirty, inside and outside, and even when the staff are taking turns to share their vape in the coolroom, as customers wait...
And it's quick...as while Maccas across the road will have a line out on to the street = RR is a ghost town...
For locals it's poor reputation preceeds it, and I will be another local giving up on this...

Oh, where do I even begin with the rollercoaster ride that is dining at my local Red Rooster? It's like a thrilling adventure where the only certainty is uncertainty, and disappointment lurks around every corner.
Let's start with the enthralling game of "Guess What's Missing From Your Order?" It's the newest sensation sweeping the nation, courtesy of Red Rooster! Will it be the chips you ordered, or perhaps the drink you paid for? Who knows! It's like playing culinary roulette every time I step foot in there.
And the staff! Oh, what a delightful bunch they are! Their rudeness and incompetence are truly a sight to behold. The female manager (I would put her name, but she refused to provide it) deserves a round of applause for her impressive display of condescension and disdain. It's like being treated to a free show with every visit.
Now, onto the thrilling mystery of the ever-changing opening hours. Will they be open today? Who's to say! It's like a surprise party, except instead of balloons and cake, you get disappointment and hunger. What a thrill!
And let's not forget about the food itself. Once upon a time, it was a culinary delight, but now it's like a sad, soggy shadow of its former glory. It's as if they've mastered the art of inconsistency, serving up surprises with every bite.
So, bravo, Red Rooster! Bravo for turning a simple meal into a heart-pounding adventure full of twists, turns, and disappointment at every corner. It's an experience I won't soon forget. Or maybe I will, considering I'll probably never go back.
After doing some digging, I see NEW OWNERS took over in late 2022. That would explain the changes in staff, service & food...
