My $28 Schnitzel gave me food poisoning.
We came on the Sunday night of a public holiday weekend and we got absolutely robbed by this place.
We were a table of 10 and we waited an hour for our food, the bistro was at about half capacity. The seafood and pasta in the marinara were both over cooked. The porterhouse was tasteless and overcooked with a garlic sauce that had minimal garlic. The chips were over cooked on most meals and the parmigiana was dry and over cooked as well.
The kids meals were priced 50% more as a public holiday weekend price gouge ($15 -normally $10). And on top of that the bolognese was watery and over saturated with herbs - pointless for kids. The eye fillet was about 30% more expensive. The fact that this venue feels like it’s ok to completely take advantage of families on a holiday weekend is completely absurd in my opinion. We know this because we screenshotted the website menu before we came up and the menu on the day was a printed out one with different items at inflated prices. On top of this the access to the menu on the website was restricted over the weekend. There also was zero indications anywhere of a “public holiday surcharge” like other places had clearly signed. The Anglesea hotel can’t even cook chicken nuggets on a Sunday night. The nuggets I saw on every table were incredibly over cooked and hardly any were eaten.
This venue needs to have a long, good hard look at themselves and their values. Exploiting families on a long weekend is hardly going to entice them to want to ever return, or encourage others to do so.
I’m always happy to pay, but if the food is horrible, the service is abysmal and expensively priced then how is...
Read moreAlmost empty on a Thursday summer night. Some Kitchen staff had their masks under their chins or not on at all! Menu- sparse & not a kids pasta at all! Or sausages etc. Chicken 3/4 options!
Chicken schnitzel/Steak w sauce- doesn't appear anywhere on menu what the sauces are. A very basic unthoughtout menu and in appearance as well-plain & obvious typos. Website not up to date re avail menu to choose from (per staff as well).
No real daily specials. Atm-curried sausages w coconut rice & naan? I've never seen an Indian menu w sausages... Just keep it a pub classic-curried sausages, veg & mashed potatoes or boiled rice! Seems like they aren't trying at all. If this were my business I'd be so disappointed and change a lot.
Eg. A basic daily soup on the menu, a BASIC garlic bread! (& Cobb loaf as on menu). Had to ask twice for 2 side plates & a knife to cut the cobb with. No customer thought. How could we eat/cut it? 😠 The simple things mean a lot ppl!
No kids pasta on the menu... And no ?salmon. A main mussels perhaps? Its the surf coast- play up the seafood! The food is over priced...The venue and location seems to be not appreciated or made the most of 😔 Having said the above.... I believe the food I had tonight was yum! Cobb loaf & porterhouse steak- although not seared properly & a bit over done, but good! Crisp chips too! Overall an unthoughtout menu.... but surprisingly the food was good....
Read moreprobably the worst service I have ever experienced. My family of 7 ordered dinner on a quiet night with only 3 other tables inside being filled , we all ordered our meals and 10 mins later entres came out. 15 mins later the first 2 meals came out. 1 hour later we approached the bar and asked where the other 5 meals were and we were told there was a miscommunication with the till and the kitchen . 15 mins later 3 of the remaining 5 meals came out and we were left waiting on the 2. 15 mins later we asked a waiter who upon enquiring came back and told us the remaining 2 had been missed again.
The most disappointing part in all of this was not once did we receive an apology nor did the waiting staff show any form of compassion towards my family and 2 year old son for the 2 hours we had to wait for only 5/7 meals to be served . As we left we asked to speak with the manager who apologised and was lovely. He also told us this was the first he Had heard about our evening which was also disappointing.
Needless to say this was our first and last visit to the...
