This is a wonderful restaurant, the standard if which is unexpected in a country town. I have been to Manny's numerous times (10) and I am never disappointed. I always bring out of town guests here as it is the best Armidale has on offer.
I am not able to consume vast quantities, but have been to the restaurant with many guests that are. Some reviewers say servings are small but all my guests would disagree. The servings are more than ample for all guests I have dined with. I must say that the antipasto platter even exceeds expectation.
Perhaps people reviewing negatively regarding serving size do not understand what a dish from a 'Primi/Secondi' menu actually means. The complainants may be confused. If wait staff explained it may be helpful to them and your reviews.
The food was delightful. Cooked to perfection. The meals we chose were a test of a great chef, but they passed with flying colors. They were particularly time sensitive, but the chef knows what he is doing and does it very well.
Price is higher than a pub meal, but there is a huge difference between the food served here and that in a pub situation. While located above the White Bull and part of their offering, this is a very different experience. If you want a burger and fries or similar, stay downstairs (which is also pretty reliable & good pub grub).
We provided comments in the online booking form to advise that we would be bringing a young baby in a pram that could not sit or use a high chair. The thoughtful table assignment was appreciated. It was right next to the lift and had plenty of room for the pram away from any foot traffic in the restaurant. We even had room to move the pram back and forth to take turns in entertaining the young fellow.
The service (not silver service, but doesn't purport to be), was delivered by bright and cheerful wait staff. We never waited longer than a couple of minutes between wanting to order something or its subsequent delivery.
The wine menu is not huge but carefully thought out to find the perfect accompaniment. It is also reasonably priced for both glass and bottle options.
Even the lovely bar staff member (in the White Bull) that we asked about the location of the lift was super helpful. It's outside but he escorted us to it and assisted us to negotiate.
I hope you continue to do well and flourish for...
Read moreFor my birthday, we decided to dine at Manny's on Marsh, a restaurant buzzing with the news of a new chef and a revamped menu. With my Italian background, I know the authentic Italian cuisine and was eager to see if this restaurant would meet my expectations. As soon as we stepped into the restaurant, we were warmly welcomed with a big smile and escorted to our reserved table.
The restaurant's ambience was cozy, with tasteful decor, which created the perfect atmosphere for a special night. After looking at the menu, we decided on pasta, and to my delight, the pasta (penne) was cooked to perfection - "al dente" with a delightful red sauce that had a touch of southern Italian flavour thanks to the addition of burrata cheese.
The salmon, which was the fish of the day, was a generous portion and delicious. The vegetables (broccolini) were enhanced by a nice sauce. We also enjoyed a rocket salad with pears, the perfect accompaniment to the meal.
For dessert, we indulged in a classic Italian dessert - Tiramisu. The Tiramisu was exceptionally well-made, and the flavours were delicious. The menu was also well-written, with accurate Italian spellings, which added to the authenticity of the restaurant.
Overall, it was a fantastic night, and we left the restaurant feeling satisfied and content. I'm already looking forward to returning and trying the "Fritto Misto" on...

I came with my husband and 3yo - and the meals were simple, but well executed (which is the foundation of great cuisine). I had the Arrabiata and missed the garlic, but I enjoy food on the edge of over-seasoned. For those with picky kids the pasta options look great but beware, the chicken in the 'chicken schnitzel' and chips were served in a tasty (but unexpected) toasted panini style.
The most notable of our experience were the staff. Understanding when we called ahead late, exceptionally attentive to my young one, friendly and conversational when we were and regularly appearing to assist with ordering and refills - our waitresses were a definite boon to our experience.
And I mean c'mon Nutella...
