We visited An Indian Affair on a Monday night and found it surprisingly busy given the day of the week - although not completely full at any point during our visit.
Appearance of the restaurant from the outside looked somewhat low-key but after climbing the stairs the appearance was fair.
We were allocated a table quickly enough but after that it was hard to get any service. For example we asked for drinking water, which was delivered in a bottle soon but we had to ask for drinking glasses separately two times before those were brought to us. Taking our meal orders was also delayed for much longer than we would have expected. We noticed that a group of four customers who arrived after us and who were allocated a table in the middle of the room (good visibility from the service desk?!) were served much faster than the two of us. Later, after that larger group left, their table was cleaned very thoroughly, which we were very happy to witness.
Unfortunately the slow service was not the only mishap that we experienced during our visit: among other items we ordered an egg curry, which is a dish not commonly available in the numerous Indian restaurants that we have visited all over Australia. Unfortunately we received an eggplant curry instead. We did not complain at that point as we also like eggplant curry, and it was near impossible to catch the attention of the service personnel. Besides, we were quite hungry by the time we finally received our order.
The restaurant had a special, reasonably priced meal deal on Mondays. In addition to the 2 main meals and rice this deal included plain naans. We asked to upgrade the naans to a non-plain variety suggesting that we'd pay the price difference. This was verbally agreed to. However, in the end we received both our ordered "upgraded" naans and also the plain naans that were part of the deal. Needless to say, there was way too much bread for us to finish. We also ended up paying the extra upgraded naans in full, not only the difference as initially agreed. If the waitress would have confirmed our order before taking it to the kitchen, these problems could have been avoided.
No one asked us during our meal whether everything was fine. Finally, when we paid for the meals and mentioned all the problems with the service to the cashier, she was just "very sorry" but did not offer any actual compensation. For example, we would have appreciated if we were not have been asked to pay the upgraded naans in full.

Speaking of food, the menu is a celebration of authentic Indian flavors. The Paneer Makhani is an absolute standout – creamy, rich, and packed with flavor. The Butter Chicken is another crowd favorite, perfectly spiced and paired with fluffy, buttery naan that’s impossible to resist. For those who love a bit of adventure, the Goat Saag is a must-try – tender, flavorful, and utterly satisfying.
What makes this place even more special is their commitment to their customers. Read moreI visited an Indian affair for a quiet dinner with the family a few nights ago. Don’t get me wrong the food was tasty but what I cannot get over the portion sizes. I understand the ingredients used to make dishes such as the butter chicken are expensive, but $20 for a small bowel was embarrassing. Accompinied by a small chicken and cheese bread (no bigger than a 4cm radius) for $7.50 really took the piss. What ended up being a $27.50 meal could have cost $20 at a pub which would have been way more filling. Usually I agree with the term ‘quality over quanitiy’ but the quality could barely justify the lack of food. Overall a disappointing experience, further I recommend spending $20 at a pub for a nice pasta or steak rather than ‘donating’ money to a resteraunt which somehow thinks they can charge a killing for an...
