First trip from Sydney to Armidale. Stopped in on Saturday for lunch and was so happy with both the Chicken Burger and the 'Newie' burger we decided to have dinner there on Saturday night. Saturday night was a standout. Started with the garlic prawns, salt and pepper squid and garlic bread, all amazing but the winner was the garlic prawns - absolutely delicious. For the mains we had the Filet Mignon and Barramundi. One thing I want to say is if you do nothing else in the New England region of NSW, you must try this Filet Mignon. Absolutely smashed me out of the park, I have ordered this dish across Australia and this is by far, over and above the best one I have had.
All staff were friendly, happy to have a chat and were great at offering tips for the local area. One thing I also noticed is that they were smiling and actually looked like they wanted to be there which added to the overall vibe of the whole place.
Coming from Sydney it's hard to find a place that doesn't shell out mass produced, mediocre-at-best, chain style pub food that gives you heartburn. Coming from a bloke that knows the inside of a pub pretty well, The New England Hotel is a breath of fresh air, so much so I felt compelled to leave this review.
Want a pub feed that's reasonably priced, made with the customer in mind and served with a smile? Look no further than the Newie. We will...
Read moreUpon stepping into the charming ambiance of the New England Pub, I was immediately drawn to its cozy atmosphere, adorned with a majestic fireplace, rustic wooden decorations, and a vintage carpet that seemed to whisper tales of bygone eras. Settling in, I opted for the half rack of ribs, which turned out to be a pleasantly generous portion of eight succulent ribs. While the tenderness of the meat was undeniable, I couldn't help but feel that the flavor profile fell short of expectations. Offering only one choice of flavor may limit the culinary experience, especially when there are undoubtedly superior recipes out there. However, the affordability of the meal was a pleasant surprise, considering the portion size. As for libations, while the beer selection was satisfactory, I couldn't help but wish for a more diverse offering, perhaps including iconic European brews like Guinness to complement the pub's namesake. Overall, despite the minor culinary shortcomings, the New England Pub exudes a warm and inviting atmosphere that beckons patrons to unwind and create their own memorable stories within its...
Read moreI recently visited The New England Hotel, and unfortunately, it was a disappointing experience. The first thing I noticed when I walked in was the sticky floors, which made it difficult to walk around without feeling uncomfortable. The entire venue had an unpleasant smell, which did not help the situation.
To make matters worse, the audio mixing was terrible. The music was far too loud, and the sound quality was awful. It was impossible to hold a conversation without shouting, which made the whole experience frustrating and unpleasant.
The staff were also incredibly rude and unhelpful. When I approached the bar to order a drink, the bartender was dismissive and didn't seem interested in serving me. To top it off, the drinks were overpriced and not worth the money.
Overall, I would not recommend The New England Hotel. The sticky floors, terrible audio mixing, rude staff, and overpriced drinks all contributed to a disappointing and unpleasant experience. Save yourself the trouble and find...
