I had my girlfriends around for a night of food and drink and just a generally good time, looking forward to getting some delicious Indian for dinner. We eagerly ordered our food, tossing up with the options that are available from this tried and tested resturant. Unfortunately, tonight was a disappointment and a black stain on our takeaway options.
After waiting an hour after we had ordered, and 10 minutes past the delivery time I called the resturant to check in with our order. I couldn't get through the first time, and on the second time I was greeted by a lady. Whilst I understand it is a Saturday night and they were probably quite busy, the service I received on the phone was not fabulous. I was told that the order was still being made, no, that the order was "5 minutes away". The lady then reassured me and quickly hung up. So as someone who has been in customer service I politely waited 10 minutes before calling through again. When I called through again, I spoke to the same lady, and she had again reassured me that it had left the resturant and was on its way. Now as a local baldivian, I know exactly how long it would take me to drive from the resturant to my house, and unfortunately the "driver" was still at the resturant when I called the second time. We finally received our order, almost an hour and a half after we had ordered, and I was so excited to finally get some sustenance that I did not check the order - rookie error.
Only after we had started pulling out the delicious containers of goodness did we realise that one of our dishes was missing. Unfortunately at this point the resturant was closed and I was not able to call to discuss this disappointment. Now whilst the missing dish was of a mild variety, my poor friend had to endure the heat from my medium dish. She sat through this unpleasant experience grimising through every bite, and unfortunately could not enjoy her dinner. On top of this, the cheesy garlic nann which we had ordered was not cooked properly and was still doughy.
I am very disappointed with this service, as we have not compensated for this unfortunate...
Read moreIf i didn't inhale and mop up all the sauce from my butter chicken with that delicious sheet of garlic naan bread, I would've saved as much of it I can. I would of bottled the sauce up into an incy wincy container and taken it with me everywhere I would ever go. I'd take this sauce on holidays with me, hell I'd take it family Christmas's, this sauce would influence my future 3rd child's middle name because it has earned a spot in my heart through my taste buds. I finished the meal standing over my kitchen counter dripping sauce all over the show because it was too good to stop, it was too good to get a plate and risk a couple minuscule moments of not being in and around my ecstatically pleased taste buds, no sir. I would say that time was of the essence to keep the goodness going, but there was no time, you can't measure what I shared with that sauce.
P.s I also ordered the goat curry, goats are amazing creatures ya know. You may already be aware that they're distant cousins of sheep, but did you know it is believed that goats are one of the first animals to be tamed by humans roughly 9000 years ago? It makes sense as to why my meal was so perfect and the meat was falling off the bone, humans have been working thousands of years to perfect the dissipating meat and flavour in my mouth, like melting chocolate on a hot day.
I like chocolate a lot, and im sure you do too, so I think we can both agree you should try...
Read more⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ From the moment we walked into House of Spice, everything about the experience was top notch. The ambience is warm and inviting — beautifully decorated, comfortable seating, and the perfect lighting for a relaxing meal.
The service was outstanding. Our server was attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu — happy to suggest dishes, explain spice levels, and make us feel welcome.
Now to the food: Wow. Every dish was full of flavour, authentic, and cooked with clear care. The spices were balanced just right — aromatic, complex, never overwhelming. The butter chicken was creamy and rich; the biryani was fragrant and perfectly cooked; the naan was soft, warm, and utterly irresistible. Side dishes complemented perfectly — chutneys, raita, everything fresh and tasty.
Portions were generous, and we left feeling completely satisfied but not overstuffed. Prices are very reasonable for the quality you get.
All in all, House of Spice is exactly what any lover of Indian cuisine would hope for — flavour, personality, warmth, and excellence. We’ll definitely be back. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a fantastic Indian meal...
