Booked in for dinner when we made our reservation for an apartment next door We went there to clebrate the sail of my yacht to a local in Bundaberg and to say I was dissapointed in the meal is an understatement!!!! I ordered the signature dish thinking that it would be a celebration of the wonderful seafood of the area Ordered 2 pre dinner cocktails from the bar and having enjoyed many caprianna's in South America and other countries around the world I would have to rate these as possibly the worst ever! The limes were not crushed and there was only an inkling of the cane syrup and well the rum, I think that was on holidays too!!
The main courses arrived andI was astounded at the minimal amount of seafood!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
1/2 a Morton Bay Bug, 3 Prawns, some squid and I think a small piece of fish with 2 mussells that were the size of a fingernail, with something that was supposed to be a scallop all surounded by what was called Gumbo with some passing reference to vegetables and where was the fennel? All of this for $55!!!!! Plus $8 for 2, yes, 2 small slices of cornbread
That puts it at the most expensive over rated main course that I have ever experienced! If this is your signature dish you need to think again
The dessert however lived up to expectations and helped ease the pain of the main course
We ordered a 2018 Margaret River Chardonnay to go with the meal and upon checking the label whist refilling our own glasses noticed that it was in fact a 2019 Chardonnay and the wait staff gave the poorest excuse for the ever for the wrong date
My wife was not impressed with her meal and would only rate it as "just average"
Overall how would I rate your restaurant?
3 for ambience 3 for service -2 for value and quality of the meals
Oh and one question , what and why were the wait staff eating in the servery area in...
Read moreMy wife and I had chosen Kacys to celebrate our Valentines day. We had been hearing great things about Kacy, and we are just new to town, so we though that we were in for a very special night.
A sea view table was saved for our dinner.
With the suggestion of the waitress, my wife ordered the salmon seafood mix with brandy butter, and I ordered double cooked duck over scalloped potatoes. Sounds great right? We thought so.
After an hour of waiting and a half full restaurant, my wife received a plate of overcooked seafood with what tasted like a shot of brandy poured over top before serving. It was filled with a very unpleasant alcoholic taste, and the seafood was rubbery. The waitress was even sweet and asked how my wife liked the salmon cooked. I guess our answer didn't matter.
My duck was just as big of a letdown. Double cooked duck is supposed to be confit (meaning slow cooked in duck fat for 3+ hours until its so soft you can cut it with a fork) and then pan fried so the skin is crispy. The duck I got served was a dry sorry piece of duck leg.
For a restaurant that holds such a reputation, it put a big dampener on our evening. They were nice when we brought it up to the management to not charge us for our meals. I think that if you ask patrons to pay $40 per plate, you have to deliver edible food for a minimum.
Its safe to say that we will not be visiting Kacy's in...

Came here for dinner with high expectations and left thoroughly disappointed. Atmosphere and staff were great, but the food was less than acceptable. I ordered the grilled barramundi, and was extremely disappointed when it arrived. It was served on a large plate, and both the barramundi and potato gratin were smaller than my palm. The waitress offered us an addition to the plate as (her words) “that’s not a lot for what you’re paying” - so we asked for some garlic bread. We were then not only charged the $32 for the Barra, but also charged $9 for the garlic bread. The barramundi was tasty, which is a positive. The potato gratin however, didn’t even taste like potato and lacked any flavour besides the taste of oil. The cost of the meals does not reflect the size nor quality of the food at all.
I can’t speak for everyone, but seeing the reviews saying meal sizes are good is a lie.
We ended up ordering one dessert to try, as we were not wanting to waste anymore money on meals for mice but to our surprise the Creme brulee was large, and managed to satisfy all of us.
That was the only part of the meal that seemed worth the money. I regret that I didn’t get photos to showcase the food (or lack of), but I won’t be back to...
