Susumu Fusion Cuisine — Restaurant in Bargara

Dined last night at Susumu for their reopening night. I booked a table via email. The booking was confirmed quickly. On the day of the booking the reservation was reconfirmed with a message in WhatsApp. We were greeted warmly as the first new customers with the new menu & offered a complimentary glass of wine. We chose the Short Course Menu, and this was outstanding & delicious. The standouts to me were the Grilled Cheese Scallop, the Broccolini in Tempura batter, the vegetables served with the Chicken Butteryaki were amazing & the Matcha Ice cream with red bean was a delicious refreshing finish to the meal. Food is pleasant, but portions are very small for the price. I ordered the tofu curry and it came with a very small portion of steamed rice and the salad was one small lettuce leaf with a few pieces of grated carrot. There wasn’t a lot of tofu and the sauce was a bit overly spicy. Also way too much sauce compared to the rice and tofu. I ended up driving to Coles for a heat-up meal as I was really hungry afterwards and I’m not a huge eater. It’s exactly what you’d expect from a traditional Asian restaurant. The dishes are fantastic. There’s a man that delivers & cooks the food and I can’t express how amazing his demeanour is. He cares about the food, the service, the experience. He provides a shining light in the dining experience that’s often missing. He explains the dish in a quaint way that leaves you marvelling at what’s in front of you. Amazing food, prices, and service.
