Todays experience at Ricks was by no means reflective of the usual excellent service I have become use to. I only feel compelled to write reviews when something other than the norm - both good and bad - occurs. Unfortunately todays experience was not a good one. The main reason I write this review though, is because I felt terrible for some of the staff at Ricks, and I would hope that some action may be taken by management to address what I witnessed.
When at the counter taking my order, the two chefs in the kitchen appeared to be having a go at each otherā¦as I continued with my order, the argument escalated to an āoffering of physical violenceā level where all people within hearing distance felt uncomfortable. I chose to apologise to the waitress and tell her I would dine elsewhere, and that I hope the escalating argument would be sorted out.
I hope the two chefs that were having a bad Thursday morning realise that their actions have an effect. I also donāt want my food made with that level of angerā¦

Arrived at 1:50 to confusion as there were lots of staff but they were all cleaning, taking numbers off tables, vacuuming, dusting, polishing but paying little or no attention to customers. Our meals arrived at 2:15, the salad (mine) being delivered last & well after the other meals. I like a coffee after my meal & enquired as to apparent āclosingā mode. I was told coffee machine would be closed at 2:30 (it was 2:21 so I started wolfing down my lunch). At 2:26 a more senior wait staff apologised and said coffee machine would stay open for me. At 2:36 I ordered coffee from the senior who then instructed, āmachine to be shut down as soon as it is made.ā (but they advertise, āclose at 4pmā). Between 2:45 & 2:55 two separate couples were turned away as they were āclosingā. We went for a stroll & 15 minutes later 3:10 the place was shut up tight!!! Ā Ā Ā Read moreI visited Rickās a few days ago, and while the food was delightful and the service from the staff was friendly and attentive, my experience was overshadowed by something unacceptable.
During my visit, I witnessed the boss yelling at employees in a way that was loud, aggressive, and extremely unprofessional. It was uncomfortable to watch and made me feel uneasy. No matter how good the food or service is, seeing staff being treated poorly leaves a bad taste in your mouth.
Employees deserve to be respected and valued, especially when they are working hard to create a positive experience for customers. I hope the management at Rickās takes this feedback seriously and reflects on how to create a better work environment for their team.
While Iād like to recommend the place for its food, I canāt overlook what I saw. Respect for staff should be as much a priority as good food...
