After driving 6 hours to see my family and being invited to one of their favourite places to drink and dine locally, I am saddened to say that our visit to this brewery was deeply disappointing due to extremely poor service and lackluster food.
Despite making a reservation, we were seated next to the kitchen, where it was uncomfortably hot, even though multiple other tables were available. This wasn't a massive deal as we were able to sit elsewhere, though we did think it an unsual decision for the staff to make. I ordered drinks after we moved tables, and though the young, male bartender wasn't impolite, I felt uncomfortable getting my order taken, due to how disengaged he was (for example, my relative standing next to me at the bar acknowledged the quality of the beer poured to the bartender, who essentially ignored him).
Later, a waitress wandered over to our table and asked if she could take our menus. When we politely asked to keep our menus, the waitress appeared visibly irritated and curtly advised that the restaurant would be closing at 8pm (it was around 7.20pm at this point). We ordered another dish promptly after this comment, which ultimately became the only dish that can be positively spoken of. The chicken wings were dry and we all felt that the serving of calamari (see image) was extremely underwhelming considering its $16 price tag.
Service continued to decline when my mum asked for same waitress that had asked to take our menus earlier for plates-given we had ordered several share plates and did not receive plates alongside them-only to be met with an exasperated response and a dismissive gesture toward where they were located (at the end of the bar before the kitchen entrance and next to a cleaning chuk, spray bottle and mortein - I personally speculated that the intention of their location is for staff to have easy access to take them to tables, rather than customers themselves collect them, though I could be wrong). Later, the same waitress huffed as she waited for my mum to clear space on the table before roughly placing down our pizza (she had a free hand). She then proceeded to aggressively grab the table number, swinging it in the process and very narrowly missing my mum's wine glass.
Overall, the experience was far from enjoyable, and we certainly won’t...
Read moreBest Burger in Bathurst.... Sadly not in this case... i took off another star for the broken promise of the sign on Havannah Street. Whilst staff outnumbered patrons for an early evening meal the table was sticky but Royale with Cheese was under seasoned and the fries, whilst barely acceptably warm, were probably overseasoned by a factor of 100%. Adequate is the word that comes to mind, but if you're promising the best in town, you really need to put some love into the dish... Chef needs to taste his food, because I couldn't... Came in four months later for a pizza and a coupl cocktails. Whilst the service and cocktails were first rate, the pizza needed seasoning was underdone and the sauce was tasteless. I'm happy to help chef with his sauce and temps, but I'm not sure I'd give this another go, except for the cocktails... they're the bomb... I did eat most of the pizza, but the balance wasn't there and it...
Read moreService was incredibly slow. Despite everyone ordering at the same time the last 3 people got their meal about an hour after the first person, so that the waitress was cleaning the table by the time the last of the food was bought out. " It's coming... we are busy" isn't a very good reason 😡. No apologies. Burger and fries were all cold.
By the way, waitress with the blond hair: One of our group saw the face you made behind my back... Next time at least wait til you're out of sight
Table 23, 22 Dec 2024, 6 pm ish booking
Need to do better. Not coming back.
Response to response: Simple explanation... the table was booked under someone else's name on the table; And if you're the manager, then have a talk to your wait staff about passing on complaints and handling them properly on the spot. That way it might...
