The Bathurst Regional Art Gallery (BRAG) aims to provide primary and secondary schools with access to quality arts programs (visual arts) for students and teachers.
BRAG recognises that there is no substitute for access to original works of art. This belief is central to each program presented by the Gallery.
Students are engaged through object-based learning which develops critical-thinking skills and fosters an appreciation for the visual arts in the next generation. Programs emphasize the careful looking at works of art, the articulation of ideas and impressions and the development of students as cultural learners. With an emphasis on interpretive responses, BRAG's education program supports a number of areas across the curriculum and strengthens conversation, problem-solving and writing skills.
BRAG realises that the main obstacle for regional and isolated schools in attending exhibitions and education weeks is transport costs. To address this issue BRAG provides transport subsidies, 2 to 3 times a year, to public schools for specialised Education programs. Contact the Gallery today to see if your school is eligible to receive a transport subsidy.
BRAG also offers exhibition-related teacher training sessions for all education programs throughout the year as part of an ongoing initiative to build teacher confidence in the gallery environment. For more information on these programs contact the Education and Public...
