Bella Julia Pizzeria — Restaurant in Brisbane City

Very very average. After arriving for 30 minutes our party of 5 went looking for menus. Yes the water and bread were brought out but where was the service? The meals were brought out, my daughters about 10 minutes before the rest, but that can be excused. The caprese salad was ok. The brushetta was so so. The vealsatimbocco was the same. 38 dollars for an an indifferent meal was pretty disappointing. My wife’s fish of the day came out crispy outside but still frozen in the meat, if you are going to excuse the quality of the service for an excellent meal, well ok, we’ve all been there. But this was very average food and service for a very high price with very poor service. It was not the quality of the service that let this $130 meal (including a bottle of wine that we had To wait for 20 minutes for) for 2 adults a child. It was the sour taste of having had to pay this amount for a very average meal in a suburban setting pretending to be what is wasn’t. How is it that you are served frozen food then asked if everything is to your liking? Wake up to yourselves in the kitchen boys and girls, your food is mediocre at best and that is being...

Firstly, the food was delicious!

However for the price point, FOH was quite disappointing:

once seated, nobody came to take a drinks order for 20 or so minutes. Staff were stood at the service window our drinks did not arrive until our entree was ready we were never told about the $15 gnocchi specials, even after ordering gnocchi at full price. We saw the special sign on the way out. our entree plates were never cleared from the table, we were expected to move them around so the mains could fit four uncleared surrounding tables were not cleared until dinner service finished (parties had left before we’d arrived!) neighbouring table had their mains brought out in three flights over a 20 minute period another table had their drinks order forgotten about and had to remind staff (cans of beer)

First visit. Booked outdoor table. Arrived and told our table was inside. They made some adjustments and got us an outside table. All good. Ordered two entrees but they ran out of ingredients for one of them, so we just got the one. No worries. We nearly finished entree and drink order (just soft drink) hadn’t arrived so had to remind them. No big deal. Mains arrived. We weren’t offered pepper or cheese. I asked for some additional Parmesan cheese on my pasta. Was told additional cheese would cost extra, so I passed. Being Italian I’ve dined at a lot of Italian restaurants and can’t say I’ve ever had to pay extra to add some cheese on top. The flavour was a bit bland. As we paid, I noticed a specials board with some decent looking dishes. No one drew our attention to any specials. Overall very ordinary experience.
