Blue Ocean Seafood — Restaurant in Brisbane City

I don’t normally leave negative reviews but the quality of this place has gone downhill and I am wondering if it has changed hands or I just got a bad batch of food?

My partner ordered a family pack for takeaway and it was awful…oily and soggy chips, the fish batter was also soggy and they forgot to give us the salad which I am sure should have come with the family pack. Salt and pepper squid had a weird aftertaste…it smelt funny?! Tasted old and icky…

They did not have the meal under my partners name so I was perplexed when I went to pick it up and then they realised it had been put under his surname. The staff are pleasant enough but the food lets it down for the price it cost.

It is a lacklustre meal for $70+ to be honest…I feel like I’ve wasted money on food that ended up not being eaten because it was so oily and soggy.

This was the second time we had eaten here and it was absolutely delicious that first time with crispy chips and lovely battered fish with a tasty salad…that’s the reason we thought we would give it a go for dinner but disappointed it was not nice to eat at…and so expensive!

I hope that I just had a one off bad meal here and I hope that the food goes back to the tasty dishes I experienced...

I had to delete my 5 star review from 3 years ago and start over because I was really disappointed tonight. We’ve been overseas for a year and when we came home I was looking forward to the battered chips from this place, it was one of my favourite things! I ordered the battered chips expecting them to be as good as I remembered but they were bright yellow and soggy and just gross! Not the delicious crispy battered chips we used to get every week. I wonder if there’s new ownership and they’re getting their food from another source? Either way, what a disappointment.

“We love it here! We’ve lived in the neighbourhood for a few years and had never knew it was there until we found it by accident a few months ago- have tried ALL the other fish & chip shops in a 15 minute radius.... but this spot is by far the best, and we won’t go anywhere else now. In addition to their delicious battered fish, they offer many “healthier” grilled & sautéed alternatives and it’s ALL delicious. Best quality and selection around plus staff are always very friendly and courteous....
