So being local Iโve been going here since Bar 951 days. So when it changed hands it was nice to see a new spin and it looked promising. The poor staff are flogged to death with only one person behind the bar having to do EVERYTHING! Sheโs always warm in greeting you and making you feel like a valued customer while trying to juggle slow taps a seemingly inefficient POS system and run tables and clear everything inside and out. It should be a crime to make staff work the manic and probably is but I digress. The food menu is nice and for pub fare is reasonable and priced fairly. The rotation of beers is limited not like it used to be with previous iterations but the hours do my head in. So like most people I work a 9-5 Mon-Fri gig and would love to come down and get a beer and feed but itโs closed Sundays. Yep you read correctly! A bar closed on a Sunday. Blows my mind how prosperous this must be from Wednesday to Saturday to be able to say. โScrew the punters letโs have a day offโฆ. And Monday and Tuesday as well!โ And this is the trend in the evenings where if they have a mediocre trade the owner apparently instructs them to close early as itโs not worth paying their wages to stay open. So again tonight I finished work and got changes and headed down for a couple of cheeky beers and at 6:37pm the tables outside were in the menu TVโs off and taps cleaned and plugged. I want a nice nearby bar to flourish but the owners are either deliberately imploding this business or have terrible business acumen. So off to old reliable Revel where I can always get beer and a feed. Even in a cyclone. If the place there makes it through Winter Iโll be amazed. Cโmon guys! Have a good hard look in the mirror and start performing and win the locals back. Thatโs your demographic. The rest will come from them. At this point I cannot recommend and hope they can turn it about soon. Itโs convenient and cost...
ย ย ย Read moreDisappointing is an understatement. The new owners have managed in their first two weeks to take the place down a number of notches. We went in and queued up to get a beer. The woman serving took an eternity to serve someone, who she seemed to be friends with, while other people walked in and queued up behind me. The two schooners I had of West Coast IPA and Hazy IPA were almost flat, well under-gassed. We ordered two pizzas and buffalo wings. One thing the previous owners had done really well at was food. Not these guys. The food we had was AWFUL. The pizzas bases had the same taste and texture to the Domino's gluten-free crust! The al-funghi pizza had onion on it and the buffalo wings were roughly half the size of their predecessors. When I asked a question about the adjacent brewery supplies store, she shrugged and didn't even try to answer. If only we could go back to the days of Bar 951, where Sally created a genuine community establishment. We are an ocean away...
ย ย ย Read moreStepping into this small pub was like entering a realm of culinary magic.
The chicken parmigiana, a dish fit for royalty, was a feast for both the eyes and the taste buds. The chicken was cooked to perfection, with a crispy golden exterior and juicy, tender interior. The sauce was a symphony of flavors, each bite a crescendo of taste that left me in awe. The cheese, melted with a celestial touch, was like a blessing from the food gods. And the side of crispy fries was like a sprinkle of fairy dust, adding just the right amount of crunch.
In this small pub, they have truly mastered the art of chicken parmigiana, elevating it to new heights. I was transported to a world of flavor and delight, where every bite was a journey through a land of deliciousness. If you're in search of a truly fantastic food experience, look no further. This small pub and its chicken parmigiana will not disappoint.
