Catalina Restaurant — Restaurant in Brisbane City

As someone who travels regularly for work I can say with confidence this is hands down the worst Hotel/Restaurant on the Eastern seaboard. The prices are absolutely outrageous for the quality of what you are served. The entree - mushroom bruschetta, sounded interesting. To be fair pig swill would be a better description. Store bought bread lightly toasted slopped with yesterday’s over cooked mushrooms (the same mushrooms served at breakfast buffet). The bread was soggy and unpalatable. The lamb ragu over gnocchi wasn’t tasteless, but then the chef draped sprigs of dried out basil stems??? You couldn’t eat around them, you couldn’t chew them, they added no flavour - only a choking hazard. To be fair to the staff they apologised profusely and were quick to removed said food and offer compensation, but it should never get to this point. Unfortunately the breakfast is not any better. So much of the food is store bought, right down to the McCain’s potato gems. You can’t help but feel completely ripped off paying almost $50 for a breakfast buffet with less than $3 worth of cost on a plate? This place banks on tired traveler’s and business people whose company’s pay or they just can’t be bothered going elsewhere. It’s an absolute disaster....

I don’t understand the good reviews on here. I never make a point of posting one but the food here was so disappointingly bad I had to warn others. Maybe there are new ‘chefs’ as our meals looked nothing like what others have posted previously. 2 of our meals were inedible and one half eaten and we are not picky eaters. Braised beef cheek had lumps of fat and gristle through it, the ‘jus’ was literally slightly brown water with no flavour. The $30 pizza was dry with hardly any other toppings bar excessive mozzarella. The club sandwich and chips were cold and dry when served to us, with uncooked bacon within 🤢 The waitress asked how our uneaten meals were when collecting our plates, I replied that they were inedible. She said sorry and then asked us if we wanted the dessert menu 😆Spent $162 here and had to go buy a second dinner elsewhere. No compensation was offered and this was such a disappointing experience for what I perceived it would be from the marketing around the hotel. Order delivered food instead, many better options at...

Arrived 12 noon I had a Cesar salad it tasted bland the Cajun chicken had zero Cajun spice no flavour and dry - very disappointing

The chef who made this needs to learn how to present fresh attractive food

This is not how this salad should taste

My partner had Mexican poke bowl saying something does not taste right

She left three quarters of it saying something not right here and is now in the restaurant bathroom so far for 20 minutes I need something to remove the bad taste out my mouth will go get a vanilla ice cream as a local van to remove the taste in my mouth

The tea had streaks of white in it possibly the fat of the milk …again did not taste correct

I had a poor meal a year ago so only came back after a client bought me a $50 voucher Never again

I hope the chef reads this, shame on you - however I feel no one cares
