Read moreWe bought my husbands wedding suit from Jake and Nadir, we had spent days searching for a light blue suit that was up to my husbands standard which was a lot more difficult than we had anticipated. We were at DFO and it was the last place we were looking before we drove home to Tamworth and settled for whatever we could find at the 2 or 3 shops there. We were walking towards the car and saw Reuben, a brand we weren’t familiar with they seemed to have a nice selection, we were looking at a suit and had an attendant come and ask us what we were shopping for. When we said he was looking for a suit to wear to our wedding they sprung into action got the full suit in different sizes with different ties and insisted he had to try it on with shoes and belt he was going to buy before purchasing. They tailored it too and took so much care when pinning it to make sure it was perfect and it was. They stock suits in so many sizes we even got a matching suit for our little 1 year old ring bearer. They offer great discounts and wedding packages were able to write up a list of the exact suit so the groomsmen could look us up in any store across the country and get the exact suit we wanted. Living in Tamworth NSW we only had a very specific time frame to pick up the completed suit and they were able to adapt for our needs perfectly. I called them the day before picking up to make sure it was ready and they remembered who I was when I went into store months after the initial purchase. The whole process was so personal the service felt too good to find in a DFO shopping centre. The two guys that assisted us were incredible people they were so happy for us, we had a great chat during the hour or so we were there and it felt like catching up...
Read moreI recently visited DFO, and I couldn't help but feel that this once-half decent outlet center (that was always a bit hit and miss) has declined even further from its original purpose. The concept of outlet stores has always been about offering discounted prices and deals that you can't easily find elsewhere. However, my recent experience left me wondering if DFO still remembers that it's supposed to be an outlet center or if the managements even care.
First and foremost, the prices at DFO are no longer the bargains they once were. In fact, some items were comparable to what you'd find in regular stores. The whole purpose of outlet shopping, getting quality products at significantly reduced prices, seems to have been lost. I couldn't help but wonder if I could find better deals online without the hassle of an in-person visit- the answer is yes, in case you were wondering.
Another issue that stood out was the age of the items on offer. Several stores seemed to be stocked with products that were not just last season's fashion, but several seasons old and destined for landfill.
The effect of DFO as an outlet center has significantly diminished and has become more Westfield, except parking is free for more than 3 hours.
It's disappointing to see DFO lose sight of its identity. While it may still have some stores that offer genuine outlet deals, these are overshadowed by a growing number of stores that seem to have forgotten why people come to outlet centers in the...
