Chiangrai Thai — Restaurant in Brisbane City

Lovely family owned business husband and wife were having dinner as we approached the counter to order takeaway and were so willingly to give up their dinner to serve us even offered to dine us in which we did.

Hospitable and attentive friendly well spoken hosts who, with their simple and traditionally comfortable thai decor setting made us feel right at home. In fact i tend to turn away from the flashy restaurants in favour for the more relaxed family setting.

The food was amazing very flavoursome and took us back to the smokey sweet flavours we experienced in thailand. We ordered peanut satay chicken stir fry, beef fried rice and cashew nut chicken stir fry. All 3 were so tasty and big servings we hadto take a doggy bag!

Prices are reasonable and would definitely make this trip again. 100% returning.

Walking into this place, you can smell the unclean oil wafting through the air - if I hadn't ordered online, I'd have walked straight out. The decor is dated. The kitchen in desperate need of a deep clean, then proper cleaning nightly thereafter.

The food was sub par. The entree of curry puffs were meagre and cold. My wife ordered the oyster sauce stir fry, and I the Pad Thai. The oyster sauce stir fry was bland, watery and the accompanying vegetables, not quite fresh. The beef also had a no so fresh tinge.

The Pad Thai was atrocious - overly dry and the chicken had a dubious smell. I was surprised how bad the dishes were with the apparently good reviews the resteraunt frequently achieves. "best Thai in Brisbane" purportedly... Perhaps a different set of chefs cook on other nights? Either way, we'll not have...

The massaman beef curry was insipid. Beef was thin and chewy. Onions were on the raw side as was the crunchy potatos. 1/10

The curry puffs: too much pastry and not enough filling was tasteless potato. 1/10

The pad thai noodles chicken was the best of the three dishes we ordered. However there was no crushed nuts and no lemon and again the flavours were insipid. 2/10.

We will be going back to get our money back!

The guy on the phone who we complained to was easy to deal with. The overall service was ok but the food was wasted as we couldnt eat it. At $41.40 I expected a bit of flavour. This was not good food.
