Events on Oxlade — Local services in Brisbane City

I give this Restaurant and Management, namely Declan the Manager a minus 1000 star review. Avoid this restaurant at all costs, my Son could have died. My Son unfortunately attended his semi formal at Oxlades last night. The Restaurant was made aware that my Son has severe nut allergies and is an Anaphylactic but the Restaurant and Staff negligently served my Son a dessert with nuts in it with no warning or indication and nor did they advise my Son of the danger, nor did they even put in the effort to prepare a nut free meal for my Son and personally serve it to him as they should have. My Son noticed that the brownie had nuts in it so he avoided eating the brownie on his plate as it in fact had nuts, but the pistachio icecream which was served next to the brownie was green and my Son being only 16 had no idea what sort of icecream it was, he thought it was green tea or lime icecream and proceeded to eat it. At no stage was my Son advised of the danger or told that the icecream was pistachio. Within ten minutes my Son went in to Anaphylactic Shock and an ambulance was called. This condition is life threatening. The paramedics treated him and he was rushed to hospital and had to spend the night in hospital. He will never have good memories of his Year 11 Semi Formal and is devastated. When I contacted Declan the Manager about this situation, Declan was rude and hostile towards me, no apologies and he even tried to insinuate that it was my Son's fault, but how could that be, what an absolute weak and unprofessional person Declan is to try and blame a young innocent boy for his own appalling negligence. I will be contacting my Lawyer and the Queensland Government and lodging a formal complaint against Oxlades, totally disgusted by this treatment, my son...

We booked Riverside Receptions because we were referred by friends and family who had been to the venue before. We chose the venue because of the beautiful Jacaranda tree on the lawn with river in the background, which was the perfect setting for our ceremony. The River Room provided a relaxed and cosy atmosphere for our reception. It is a truly beautiful spot to have a wedding and this is reflected in all our photos. Declan was extremely helpful from booking to the completion of our wedding. He was highly helpful in regard to answering questions, solving problems and being very responsive to emails and phone calls. Declan is professional and completely understands the ins and outs of weddings and thinks of things you may not have considered. The venue provides an option to have the ceremony inside if it rains. On our wedding day, the venue was conscious of the weather and allowed the guests to stay inside until the weather cleared. It rained for part of our ceremony, but it was amazing and at the end we had a rainbow. The venue allows for guests to bring in lawn games for guests to enjoy while you are off taking photos. We did a set menu and had everyone compliment the food choices and the chefs on being able to prepare the food consistently for all guests. Riverside Receptions was priced extremely well for the location and the food package provided. Overall great food, atmosphere, location and communication....

Biggest thank you to Declan and the team for making our wedding day so special. We have had nothing but wonderful comments from our guests about the venue, the service and the food! Declan was always quick to answer any questions we had and was so hospitable and friendly.

There was another wedding on in the room next door and at first I was slightly concerned about this - not wanting to tread on another couples day but this wasn’t a problem at all. I highly recommend Events on Oxlade for any couples looking for ceremony + reception in the one place with many beautiful near by photo opportunities and accomodation.
