A friend of mine and I decided to meet here after work earlier today around 4pm. We chose this cafe/restaurant based on the assumption that the kitchen opened late because when we'd googled their opening hours, it stated 8:30pm for close. Yet we got there and found out that the kitchen had closed. That much was our fault for assuming they'd still be making food based on googled hours instead of checking ahead. Nevertheless, the man that served us at the register was so lovely and graciously still had small meal options they were able to make for us. The food was great and so was my coffee, hence the three stars.
However, although I'd like to praise them simply for their coffee, one girl did not have the best customer service. As she was clearing our table, she kept reiterating that they were closing soon - we felt rushed to finish up quite early on in our stay because of this and that was a little unnecessary, we got the message the first time. She even stood there and waited for me to finish my drinks (bit of coffee and a full cup of water) despite the fact that I had said "sorry I'm still going with these" she responded with "well we really need to put the dishes through so can I just take that and put it in a take away cup for you or something" which she never did by the way, my friend and I waited an extra 10 mins and it shouldn't take THAT long to put literally water into a takeaway cup? Mind you there were several other tables still finishing up around us as this was unfolding, and we were seated outside.
I like this place and what it has to offer, and given that her co-workers weren't that rude I'd still want to give them the benefit of the doubt. I don't usually write reviews like this but as someone who has also worked in hospitality before, I was incredibly shocked and disappointed by the service we received from this young lady, and it does reflect badly on the overall customer service experience. It was incredibly awkward for my friend and I, and I'm sure anyone who were to be asked to leave because you've got to put some dishes through asap (at the end of the day) would probably feel the same. Read moreHad a great breakfast special, with eggs bacon toast tomato and toast with coffee, and mushrooms as an extra, but whilst eating my mushrooms I nearly swallowed a price of hard melted plastic the size of a small finger nail, I thought it was rind off the bacon and pulled it'll out to find it was plastic, I mentioned this to waitress and she said oh right I'll Tell the chef, and that was it, after 10 minutes waiting I asked another waitress, where is the manager sh said there was no one in charge there at the moment so she sent the chef over, I handed him the plastic, he diddnt seem too fussed, apologised and said do I want a coffee or something, and that was it. Sorry but this could have been handled far better, just goes to show how these guys deal with issues and value there customers, we go there regular over the past 8years but will be going elsewhere ...
Read moreDisappointing service, meal missing item. The food was pretty good overall. Had a big breakfast and bacon & eggs on toast. Both servings were on the small side. I ordered a big breakfast that was meant to have chorizo, but didn't. When I questioned this, the waitress said ''oh yeah it's meant to have chorizo'', yet didn't apologise or offer any explanation or remedy for me not receiving what I ordered. I would have spoken to the manager about this, but the waitress closed the door to the cafe as I walked past. I don't understand people running cafes who are not customer-focused or friendly.
