A friend and I enjoyed our first visit to this cafe last week and wanted to support it so returned on Sunday with a different friend. The first visit was during a relatively quiet time after 2pm on a weekday. As the venue is very small with limited seating I tried to book but they don’t accept bookings on weekends
I arrived and stood waiting for a vacant space for some time. I agree with another review that their staff need a system to deliver food to the correct table rather than wasting time asking every patron if they ordered the food they are carrying around, and that part of their task is to clear tables on their return to the kitchen, especially when table space is at a premium
I queued and ordered a drink and was told there would be a 20 minute delay on the order. I waited and my companion arrived. The patrons had thinned a little so we queued to order our lunch. The owner then asked us to leave as he had a group of twelve who wanted all of the large table we were seated at and there were no other options!! I was gobsmacked! I explained we were ordering our lunch. He offered to refund the cost of my drink which I declined. The whole episode was humiliating.
We had to relocate to a cafe in Sandgate. A group of twelve is hard for any tiny cafe to accommodate so it was a surprising choice for that group, but we were shown the curb to facilitate their spontaneous appearance. Good luck getting repeat local customers if this is the unprofessional way...
Read moreSomething different with great food and service. We went for lunch and it was a great experience. The service was welcoming and helpful. The fitout is quirky but that was just part of the fresh approach at this old corner store. It was busy - we were there just before 12md, but the food service was fairly quick. We had Rachels Summer Splash Salad and the Garden Eve Salad with chicken extra option. Tasty, delicious and different. Both were big servings so if you choose the Garden salad, you might want to leave off the chicken option if you're not too hungry. We also had cold drinks- the iced coffee with ice cream is a winner!!! We were inside and it was a tad noisy but it's the price you pay when people are having a good time! The overall menu is aimed at the morning crowd and coffee drinkers but there was enough choice for anyone wanting lunch like us. (The pastries looked amazing.) We hadn't booked but you can- we checked, for the next time we go. It really is worth a visit. Total bill...
Read moreI visited this café yesterday, attracted by the Friends-themed atmosphere, but unfortunately, the experience fell short of expectations. The place was bustling, but the staff seemed overwhelmed and uncoordinated. Guests were left to fend for their own seats, and there was no table service to assist or guide the flow of customers.
When food was brought to our table of five, it was placed without any clarification about which dish was whose, leaving us to figure it out ourselves. While the barista coffee was really good, the food was disappointing. The ingredients didn’t seem fresh—particularly the tomatoes, which were on the verge of spoiling. My avo on toast was the worst I’ve had in a while, which was disheartening after a 40-minute drive from Woolloongabba.
This café has so much potential, especially with its unique theme, but it needs better service and fresher ingredients to live up to its promise. For now, I wouldn’t recommend it, but I hope the team makes some improvements...
