Long story short – do not waste your fuel, time and money eating here

There were so many faults despite having ordered only 5 dishes that I felt it would be better to just list them out in dot points

First time we’ve encountered chicken feet so hard we couldn’t bite through them We didn’t order peking duck but saw how the skin was prepared for others. The cuts were far too thick, leading to huge chunks of meat being left on each skin Complimentary soup was almost room temperature as opposed to being nice and hot The roast duck was dry & a good portion of it (not just the usual small amount) was not properly cut, forcing us to tear them apart ourselves Roast pork belly had meat that was tender and tasty. Unfortunately the skin wasn't crispy Fried rice mostly bland. Your average Chinese restaurant would have done it better In a single dish, the fish maw had a very obvious gamey taste which made it unpleasant to eat, the sea cucumber slices were far too large for ease of consumption, the abalone had a distinct sour taste as if it had been infused with vinegar and the oyster mushroom stalks were hard to chew. Absolute travesty and waste of such highly prized ingredients Their hotplate-like dishes had a distinct scent of burnt wood. Not a good compliment to the food as I’m sure you can imagine. Wood was too charred?

Honestly, the best thing I can say about them is their soup was complimentary & didn’t taste like it had much MSG, the tea was hot and the roast pork belly’s meat was good. Otherwise the dishes were either mediocre or just plain bad due to the points above. I wished we had just been unlucky but that seems unlikely considering none of the dishes were good and the last time the parents ate here they thought it was merely okay.

In total we paid $215 for 5 dishes that did not come remotely close to delivering the value. Eat...

Rating: 4/5✨

if you love yum cha with traditional Chinese dishes alongside like me, you need to try @goldenlanebne 🤩🤤

with the end of the year nearing, what better way to finish the year and welcome 2022 with a gathering meal with your family and friends🥰✨Golden Lane offers a huge variety of dishes, ranging from dim sum, soups, seafood and so much more~ order a couple of dishes and share to get the taste of everything🤩🤤

here are a couple of items we ordered: ✨prawn dumplings ✨egg custard buns ✨peking duck pancakes ✨fish fillet in spicy soup ✨braised pork belly ✨stir fried string beans ✨hong king styled prawns

out of the bunch my favourite was definitely the fish🤤🤤🤤it looks pretty intimidating at first with so many chillies and redness, but it was so delicious!! perfectly balanced flavouring and spice and the fish was tender to the max🤩🥰

the custard buns were filled to the max with salted egg filling and were so satisfying to open🤤✨the peking duck pancakes were a little disappointing, they were just a tad dry and i was expecting bigger meatier pieces of duck but for those who like duck skin this is for youuuuu🥳all the other dishes were alright but i was most impressed by the fish fillet, i’m a fish lover and this was delicioussss🤤

the pricing here is alright, it’s what you would expect for a yum cha/more fancier Chinese restaurant its a huuuugee restaurant, literally definition of don’t judge a book (or in this case restaurant🤣) by its outside! perfect for big gatherings!🥰it really reminded me of chinese new year/wedding dinners in Malaysia🥺🤧definitely a nostalgic restaurant for those...

I would like to express my gratitude for this wonderfully managed restaurant.

My friends and I were meeting for lunch at a competitors restaurant, but they were fully booked out.

We had not been to Golden Lane before but they were polite upon entry and willing to accomodate.

From the moment we walked in to the moment we walked out the service provided to us by the restaurant manager was top notch!

The restaurant was clean and the food was delicious.

The manager made a special request for me, as I am trying to not eat meat, eggs or milk, by asking the chefs to make food which suited my dietary requirements. And may I say, it was so good!

It's difficult to find an Asian restaurant in Sunnybank that will make vegetarian or vegan food so this extra service was so nice.

The manager checked on us regularly, was efficient, and above all... funny! It's not often you get a friendly and funny manager willing to go the extra mile to make the diners feel welcome.

The restaurant itself was bright and let a lot of natural light in which made the overall experience quite nice.

The service, food, staff and experience was so good, we may never go back to the competitor which is not up to the same standard we feel.

Upon leaving we noticed that looking into the kitchen, it was so clean. This is a big plus for diners as it promoted a feeling of food safety especially during Covid 19.

A big round of applause to the manager and staff of Golden Lane. And a five star review I am more than happy to give. Thank you for being so kind.

Regards,

Nick...

TLDR; don't visit. Every few months we trip into Brisbane for some dim sum. Decided to give this one a try. Arrived at midday and it was busy, half an hour wait. That's OK and to be expected. So we take our queue ticket and return in time for our table. However it all goes bad when you want to eat. They don't have a trolley service. You can't order from a menu from a waiter and have your food brought to you. No. You have to find a menu as one was not provided, then get in a queue to select from food sitting out which you bus to your table yourself, or order something for later to be brought to you. The first wait in the queue was twenty one minutes. There are some steamers of food for you to select from, however the top ones will be cold and everyone has breathed over. A few of our choices from the menu were not available before 1pm. We orderd some BBQ pork which arrived soft and cold. The staff are ok, they can only do their best with the tools provided. I suspect the management are milking it for all it is worth. However in summary the whole place is an overblown cantonese cafeteria at best and could not be classified as a 'restaurant'. And just for the icing on the miserable cake, they want a 2% surcharge for all cards, even EFTPOS - which is a scam in itself. After leaving I wish I had just bought a few fresh meals from various places in the food court. Would have been hotter, tastier and a greater variety.

By far the best yum Cha I have eaten, steam foods were so tasty fresh and packed with Asian flavours, very big serves prawn dumpling fat juicy and so good, all dishes were amazing, cheap options between $6.20 and $8.20 large meals restaurant style $10 + I saw very large serves going out for restaurant, lots of staff, cleaning serving, very busy, we did have to wait in line but so worth the wait we will return 👍💯 Well we returned 2 years later so disappointed this time around, went at a not very busy time, restaurant was very cold today, beef and black pepper sauce, very flavoursome but meat was very hard and chewy, rubbery, we were given a refund for that one, pork buns were delicious, special fried rice was nice but alot different than we remember, the rice we had last time was light white rice fried with fried Scallop shavings, the young waiter didn't know what was in the fried rice, no sauces were given with any of our meals, we didn't wait long for meals, we got billed for a tea service , we didn't have any tea, just one glass of water, roast duck was good very small portions this time we spent $54 but left still hungry, we went over to the C Cafe across from the Golden Lane ordered 1x very large dish for $19 shared with 2x adults , I don't think we will come back again , much cheaper to go to an outside food vendor, cheaper and bigger portions. 😒
